This is what happens when you call the cops..

No. But if they cover for those that are, they are just as guilty.
I get it. The person that turns away from evil is supporting it. We all do this in one way or at one time or another. Its usually complicated with ties of family, friendship, duty, love or whatever. What would their punishment be if you could visit it on them?

The same punishment that the offending officer gets. They're accessories.
I can't disagree with you. I'm not sure that the crime of omission is the same as a crime of commission but that's my opinion.

For starters though, I'd like to see the offending officers get punished -- at least removed from the force and stripped of the right to carry a firearm for life. Even better, sent to prison for attacking a helpless person in their charge. But that's not happening now. The courts give the police a lot of leeway. Its pretty fucked up.

But this thread is about hating on the police. The things shown on that video are hateful. Should we hate on all police?

Not all. Just most.

Some people say that the only person hurt by hate is the hater.

Regardless how we get there, I'm pretty sure that we can agree that military-like police actions and police violence against the same people the police are charge to "defend and protect" must be opposed. The flash points and protests are currently in Ferguson and New York.

I think the "Call the Cops" video did a good job of doing more than just saying that there are bad cops out there. It touches on the rise of a military-like police force that ought to give us pause.

And now, on to some simple rules to follow to not get your ass kicked

Good stuff! Kind of depressing but John Oliver was pretty much spot on. .An article that I read that discussed the outrages of the public forfeiture laws quoted one Florida officer as saying that the reason they stopped and searched cars that were driving the speed limit was because "it indicated that the driver has something to hide". Then they would confiscate cars, money and property of these people -- a high percentage of whom where black. The public forfeiture laws are one outcome of the war on drugs. Other effects of the war on drugs are corruption, illegal stops and searches, the list goes on and on. We've got to get rid of these laws and we've got to get rid of our ridiculous war on drugs.

The protests that started in Ferguson and NY over police brutality, I think are only beginning. We've got turn out in numbers to shake the establishment up and give visibility to the issue before there will be any changes. Turn out to support the non-violent protesters

And agree -- the scumbag officers that beat, steal or lie about it to cover up for another officer -- lock em up and and throw the key away.

One problems is, the guys coming back home from the military can't find jobs, so a lot become police officers. Unfortunately a lot of these guys are simply nut jobs.. I had a lot of buddies that join the military after 9/11 they were crazy back then and came back ten times worst. I had a ex-cop tell me one time, he said "You got two kinds of cops, ones that faught in the war, and ones that want to be like those who faught in the war". Fucking road pirates.
