So I got some Hyponex potting soil. The ingredients read : hypnum peat, forest products or compost, sand, and perlite. I know it's probably the cheapest soil you can buy, but I did not want time released nutrients.

My questions:
1. Though it says perlite, I do not see any little white pieces in it. I've heard some perlite is volcanic rock, could this be why I don't see the little white pieces?
2. Have you tried this soil? is it worth the $1.20 I spent?(hah)
3. If the perlite/sand in it is not enough for proper air flow, what could I use as an easy alternative to perlite?
I'm on a very tight budget for I just put a down payment on a new house.
Thank you!

there are so many mediums to grow in...i use miracle grow potting soil for mine and i get good results....but i hear that scotts soil is even better cause of the almost natural PH level it has

As for your's i couldn't tell you....$1.29 sounds like cheap crap soil that probably is going to have bugs in it

hmmmm.....nope sorry....just go and buy some perlite and add it to your soil.

As for drainage...when the soil is moist squeeze it in your hand and if it comes apart easily it's good to go...but if it clumps up and stays in a ball add some perlite.

shitty....i know the feeling...been there before...lol, but maybe some more sand if it's not draining good enough...or even some pebbles in the bottom of the pots...that always helps.

yea... i put small rocks over the holes on the bottom of my pots. helps for drainage... even says to do so on the directions on some soils.
