1 of those should suffice for the vegetation stage. If you want to stick to cfl for flowering then I'd run along another one of those but in the red spectrum 2000-3000k. You can even add 2 red spec for flowering if you can afford it, the more light the better. I would love to know what your new innovative idea which didn't work was. Give us a titter, we've all done some rather silly things in our time. Either way, happy growing!

indeed, go with the cheaper CFL's, you might as well get an MH / HPS light if not. 6500k for veg, 2700k for flower

Also, you might wanna check Home Depot for the bulbs, i went the other day and they had 23 watt 2700k's for 59 cents a piece! i couldnt believe it! Good luck

i just got a 400 watt hps and mh system around 50,000 lumens for $160.00 or you could just get the hps system for $119.00. just go to ebay and do a search for 400 watt grow lights and look for htg supply (high tech garden supply). it comes with all the wires ballast hood and lamp. but if you think that is to much you could go with the 150 watt system for $80.00 everything included. dam good quality and you cant beat the price. thats what i would do.
