Think I have preconceived misconceptions of auto's

Hi all,

Starting my first PC grow within the next month and when looking for strains am always pointed to autos..

I feel I have some misconceptions of autos that are stopping me even giving them a chance.. Can you tell me if I am right (probabaly not!)?

I always thought that due to autos having ruderalis in that it automatically means that any auto is not going to be potent whatsoever so much so that it will 100% be noticeable when smoking them.

My biggest fear is going through the whole process and ending up with however much dry weight of useless bud that isn't even going to get me high and then have wasted a whole 2-3 months on it...

Now I see so many of you growing auto's so am certain this isn't the case but having never smoked any I just can't get this preconceived notion out of my head.

Interested to hear from some of you that have grown and smoked your own autos AND regular seeds for comparisons!

It would make my first grow so much easier to grow an auto so I am hoping you can change my mind!

Thanks in advance

Grow one of each. What's the issue? No one needs to change your mind dude, just grow it and be your own judge. No hand holding here.

I'd advise you to give them a chance, autos where what I started off with, through in some photos my 2nd grow and the smoke is just as potent, I'd say just the same, less hassle and you can harvest a lot sooner with them, I kept telling a few mates of mine to just give them a go after months of them talking shit about them, and they've stuck with autos ever since too :) give them ago see what you think, but I doubt you'll be disappointed :bigjoint:

I don't care for them myself. Some can be pretty good, but IMHO are not as good as regular seeds. I don't care for fems either, and some can also be good, but Ive been burned to many times from Barneys Farm, and others, so I'll never grow them again. I also find they aren't nearly as good as the original non fem stuff.

Also tried some GG#4 Autos, and it was junk. It was OK. But not worth the time.

I grew the Barneys Farm Regular G13 x Haze, and then tried 20 Fem Seeds, and Not 1 of them was cceptable, or in the sameclass as the regulars.

I also tried their LSD, and a few others. Also tried Sensi Bluemoonshine, and it didn't look anything like the original. Was big, and tall, with huge acrid smelling buds. Original BM was a short Stocky Hashplant.

I was lucky to pull 10oz from 1 Fem Barneys G13 X Haze, and am pulling 20+ from the Regulars, under 1 x 1000w Hortilux, and a 20 gallon container. Snd its 10x more potent.

Nevil, if you know who he is, gave up on Autos in the 80s. He was among the 1st to ever use Ruderalis, and also SOLD PURE RUDERALIS.

If you want a short, fast flowering plant, that is extremely potent.

Look into the Coastal Seeds Company ( JamsBeanCompany ) Puck Yeah.

Its original Heirloom NL1 x Pacific Northwest Hashplant. It does grow a bit slow, and is not a big producer. But is extremely potent 100% Indica.

Like I said. Some Autos are OK. Fems too. But aren't for me.

I've had the same preconceived notions about autos being part ruderalis. I decided to challenge that finally this year. I am doing my first ever auto grow in 35 years of growing photos. I will find out the truth in a couple of months.

I live in wa state and probably smoked everything under the sun.Autos grown and cured right will rival photoes potency wise all day.Do I only grow autos only ? No I grow photos also but more for yield , potency is the same. You can grow a nice load of autos in 60-70 days what’s not to love?

I tried growing autos for the first time last year, i was plesantly surprised.
Allthough the strains i tried were kinda unstable, potency was never an issue.

I have grown both and have stuck with autos based on our state laws and my smaller 8x20 space. Autos only. I also wouldn’t be doing it if it didn’t make sense
