Hi everyone, I just want to say real fast how much I appreciate how nice to me all of you have been. I'm glad I'm a part of this forum, even if I'm not breaking any ground with yield or technology, lol.

So, I'm really sorry but I'm just not very good on describing the tastes and smells of the green. I guess I smoke too much, but even with food I suck at it, so idk. But I've been smoking on the uncured Liberty Haze for the past day and wow, she is the bomb. I have a really high tolerance-for example, when I smoke with my friends I have to warn them not to try to keep up, haha, so it takes good stuff to get my attention. The LH is really really good. The high is very strong in the mind and the body, and really makes it tough to get shit done when you smoke too much, like always though haha. I usually like to smoke two bowls at a time, but with the LH I only need one and the stone lasts for several hours. I do feel tired when I come down though, but I think that's just because I've been so high, haha. I'm saving the top buds, so I'll put up a pic later on to show you all what they look like dried and cured. Lastly, I don't own a scale o_O, so I don't have weights, and I've been smoking a lot of it already, sorry guys I know you all like to see yields. I figure it's best not to have such an item in my possession, since I don't sell it anyway, and if I ever get caught I think it would be easier to prove that it's all for personal if I didn't own one.

So here's an update on the girls:

The 1024 is looking rough, but the buds are getting pretty big. She looks like she will be a real pain in the butt to trim. One branch should probably be tied up, but I guess I'm letting it go a bit, haha. The Desert Diesel is really bulking up, man she's got some big buds on her. And as always, the Lost Coast OG is looking better and better:) Oh, and the tank ran out the other day, so we're out of gas for this grow.

Here's the top and side views:

Damnit man, they're sideways. I thought we were past this!

Hey everyone,

Damn, it's really starting to get hot outside. I'm already ready for fall!! Here's a quick update on the girls with the cam:
side view.jpg

The Desert Diesel has some really huge colas on her, I'm pretty happy about that:) The 1024 is in the back, I had to tie up a branch that you can't see on the right, and I'll probably have to tie up another one soon, so even though she's got some fan leaves that look like hell, she's really beefing up. And I have a pretty crappy sense of smell, but she smells nice and citrus-y, I just hope she can finish in time....

I have to go out of town next weekend for 5 days and with the small 6 inch pots, they won't live that long without watering, but it looks like the DD and the 1024 could really go for two more weeks, ideally-probably 3 on the 1024. I was thinking I could over water them, flip off the lights, and let them finish/die for the 5 days while I'm gone. What do you guys think?

Hey everyone, I hope you're all doing well!

All the girls are still doing pretty well. The damaged leaves on the 1024 won't go away, but she seems to be much happier than before. I'm getting some crazy foxtails on the 1024 and the Desert Diesel, so that looks neat I guess. I don't see any signs of a hermie, so I guess things are going as they should. They're starting the 11'th week of 12/12, here's the top and side views:

And here's the Lost Coast OG for some Friday night bud shots:

Have a great weekend! I'll be working, but it's still a symbolic thing, haha :)

Hi everyone, here's an update on the girls:

The 1024 is really swelling up and pretty much every branch is leaning. The Desert Diesel looks like bud from top to bottom:) I was a bad boy and I trimmed some lower nugs off of the Lost Coast OG, they were okay(C+) smoke, but I'm glad I've left most of her to properly ripen up. Unfortunately, I'm going out of town on Sunday until Friday, so I my plan is to water them very well, turn off the light, and hope for the best. I was thinking about just chopping them down and letting them dry for the five days, but from the looks of them, I think it would be better if they got the hint to finish up with the near-week of darkness. I don't really know which option is better though, tbh, so if anyone has any input, please give your thoughts!!

Hey everyone, well this is the last update until next Friday when I get home and chop them down. They are all nice and frosty and I really hope this doesn't make me lose them! But, I'm going to over-water them and leave them in the dark until then. I'll keep the ventilation going 24/7 so there is no humidity buildup, but it's pretty muggy here in the summer so I'm worried about mold and mildew.

Anyway, here's the top and side views:

Ok I Give So Who hand Is In Your Tent Holding That Yellow Bic???
That's my hand, lol. I guess you usually see it with purple gloves on, haha. I took that pic the night before I left....I just got home, and they seem okay after the dark period since Sunday. I gave them a rough trim....I'll put up some pics tonight :)

Really beautiful looking plantz bruv...:)

I expect big thingz from you in the party cup.....PM me for your betting oddz....;)

Thanks a lot, Chronikool! Happy 4'th and thanks but don't jinx me! haha :) The last comp had some really great looking entries, I hope I can compete with that, or at the least finish it out this time. I didn't finish the 3rd comp, so I think that's my main goal for now....

Hi everyone,

Well, I've seen so many DIY threads involving the COBS and they all look very simple and easy to do, so I decided to add one to my garden. Everything is ordered:

CXA3070 3000K Z2
Arctic Silver 5 thermal compound
COB holder used in @Greengenes707 's thread (I hope he keeps a thread in the LED section, I don't read all the others...not enough time)
Heat sink similar to GG's - it looks neat with the heat pipes, lol
1.7A constant current driver, non dimmable
4-40 screws
tap/drill bit
Dewalt 20V cordless drill (haha, I needed an excuse for a new drill o_O )

I already have fans: 120mm and 90mm from my minifridge escapades :) I think I'll probably use a 120mm on the heat sink.

Once everything gets here and I get it built, I'll show you guys some pictures.

Also, thanks a lot @SupraSPL and @Scotch089 for all the helpful threads. I hope I read things correctly.

It really is common knowledge once you get into connecting everything. It's the parts, pieces, and matching specs that is such a headache. Super easy though, at this point- "mainstream" companies need to start putting out kits because its so much better of an option- designed, by you, for exactly what you're wanting to do and you're style.

If I can do it, you puff Dawg and Psu should give it a whirl. Seriously, you'll love it. Stressful when it doesn't go your way but rewarding.

I agree, it is easy. I actually have 8 years of electronics experience through uncle sam and Rockwell Collins, so ability isn't what's stopping me. Personally, I just don't feel like setting up the circuits, doing all the testing, board design, and doing a bunch of soldering. The COBs are pretty much plug and play, which is why I wanted to try one out:) I'm also happy that I don't have to solder the leads into the holder, which will make things easy to disconnect in the future.

I also completely agree that kits would be really nice. At the very least, COB-driver combos with the COB holders would be pretty awesome. It is tough to read the data sheets and decide on components if one does not know much about electronics.

I've seen some good work on this site regarding driving at various currents and efficiency considerations, but I didn't really worry about any of that. I feel like the major benefits to efficiency come from using the LED in the first place. Since the 3070 has a max current rating of 2.8A, I just went ahead with something near 70%, since you never want to drive electronic components at 100%. I ended up at 1.7A, which is 60% of the max rating, so I should get long life and decent brightness out of the light if my heatsink is adequate.
