I dont know mc, that heatsink is pretty impressive. It looks overkill, which is right up my alley.
Yeah, that's what I wanted too, lmao. It is a Cooler Master HyperZ600R. Just in case the fan dies and I'm not home to notice, I don't want to fry the COB too, plus I think I am really rockin the lowest Tc temps that I can manage:) The only bad part is that the holder barely fit onto the base of the first heat sink I bought. I got another sweet one coming for the other 3070-a Noctua NH-D14. Ebay is great place:)

MC, nice thread. I've actually been following since last year but too new to say anything so just kind of sat back and watched. I watched everyone in the led section for some time trying to figure out what light to get. I just ordered some bf LSD and liberty haze, looking forward to both and the freebies. Now that you've kind of switched gears and posting about your cob build, I'm looking forward to how you're going to use them. The plants you grew without cobs were awesome, looking forward to seeing what you get with them.

Thanks a lot man! I'm excited to see what the COBs can do too....heatsinks will be here Monday:) I haven't sent the BD light in yet, I'm doing it tomorrow, and I gotta say, the customer service at Black Dog is top notch. The only irritation so far is not being able to use the light.

So, you guys will never believe this, but the other Liberty Haze that I left for dead is still alive. Despite the fact that I broke it in half trying to untie the knot it grew into, and that I left it sitting exposed to air for a day or two before I decided to try to save it, the top half of the seedling is finally showing some more green:)

Have a look at the broken root and the new green:

Got my attitude order today! Only took one week from ordering until I got it :) Here's what I got:
Barneys Farm Seeds Liberty Haze Feminized
Barneys Farm Seeds LSD
Humboldt Seed Organization Trainwreck

Then I got freebies:
Sweet Seeds Green Poison fem
Sweet Seeds AUTO Black Jack
Humboldt Seed Organization Ewe-2
Humboldt Seed Organization Master Kush
Humboldt Seed Organization Lemon Kush Headband
Humboldt Seed Organization 707 Headband

I threw a LSD into a wet paper towel to germinate:) Now, I'm just contemplating on the party cup entry, while I wait on my heat sinks...things are taking forever to show up, but I paid the cheapest shipping possible o_O

Here's the garden, things are going slowly, but it's coming along. That big pot is for the LSD :) One of the girls had three cotyledons.

And then there were two COBs:) Got the 5000K and the 3000K 3070's in tent today-I think I'll veg with the 5000K and add the 3000K once they get bigger. Hopefully tomorrow I get the last heat sink for the 3590 2700K that I'll fire up in flower. I'm running both the 3070's at 1.7A, so there's about 130W between the two.

Alright! The LSD has broken through the soil and is growing:) The last heat sink came, so I got the 3590 2700K bin AD light all hooked up and ready to fire up once I start flowering:) At 1.05A I think Bueno posted that it uses around 90W of power, so we'll be at ~220W total for the 2x2.5 area that I'm using. We'll see how it does-I think my checking balance is saying that I should see what I can do with this setup before any more lights get added....

Here's the garden under the 5000K 3070 Z4 and the 3000K 3070Z2. It's a little cluttered right now, but I'll get that shit cleared out of the way soon.

Love all the cree firepower your putting together. The 3590 2700k can't be a bad thing for a flower room

What driver and current for the 3590?

Nevermind...haha..1a. Mine runs at 88w on the kill a watt at 1.05a. Same as me then..probably best for efficiency sake

Hi RIU peoples,

So far, I'd say the switch to COBs was a pretty good idea. The girls are all still growing, but I think they're vegging better under the white. They all are pointed more toward the 5000K than the 3000K-I'm not sure if it's the bin difference or the spectral difference, but they like the 5k K being in there.

I've been really busy and some issues have prevented me from mailing in the BD240U. Gonna get it sent today, finally o_O

Got the Black Dog light sent out today:) It's supposed to take 3 business days to get there, so let's see what they do to fix it!

todayspic.jpg
To get you oriented, the big pot in the back is BF LSD. The top left is either Liberty Haze or the Dinafem girl....not really sure, so we'll find out when it comes to flowering. The top right is Liberty Haze and so is the bottom right, and the bottom left is a HSO Master Kush.

So the girl with 3 cotyledons is in the top left clay pot. I topped her after the first node and now I have three mains forming:) She's growing really fast with those extra leaves. The bottom right girl is already a bit hungry, but I topped her last night anyway. Since she's already asking for food, I started feeding the two big ones 3/4 strength 7-7-7 with .25mL/L cal-mag+. I'll give it to all of them in a couple days once the little ones get a bit bigger. I don't plan to use different mixes for the different plants- they'll all get the same thing, for better or for worse. The girl that I broke as a seedling is still growing...going to let her get a bit bigger before I top:) Hopefully they all start to take off so that I can top a few times before I have to germ for the party cup competition and switch to 12/12

I just took a clone from a DNA "la chocolat" plant that has the whorled phyllotaxy thing going on. I was thinking about doing a 3 arm mainline from the first node, I dont know if I will though because of space restraints. I am always surprised at how much abuse some seedlings can take, its a pretty hard plant to kill. Consider it as a stress test.

I can't believe the two that I have in there that lived:)

Yeah, they can take a lot, but some little tiny things can easily stress them too much...then they stop growing and just kind of sit there and slowly die.....

Those ones probably would have grown shitty buds. I like to stress test some seeds to see if they are survivors, like letting them get dry and seeing how drought resistant they are, or over watering and seeing how they take that.

In one of my marijuana books, maybe by Mel Frank, or R.C. Clarke. It discusses a guy (he had some credentials I think) who improved many of the food species we grow today. He did so by planting 10's of thousands of seeds culling off all but the strongest few in a the first week of life. He then bred the remaining and repeated. I have too many books to go through to find the exact info, but I'm sure you get the point.

Looking good! Have yo
u decided on the strain for the comp?
Thanks man:) Well, I'm trying, haha. I'm waffling between some of the freebies I got, so I haven't decided yet. I was going to just germinate one seed though, but I'm also wondering if that's what I should do....I don't want to waste any seeds on the comp though, I'm not taking it too seriously, just having some fun:)

Just bought an enclosure for my power supplies:) It has extra room for a few more too o_O

Hi everyone, I hope you're all doing well:) The girls are starting to grow pretty fast, so I wanted to show you all a quick update:) Only the two smallest havent been topped, but I think I missed on the girl in the lower right. I might have to re-top...I'll decide tomorrow once I can see what's what. I'm pretty happy with the cobs so farbongsmilie

Hey guys, here's a quick shot of the girls. The one is really getting some fat cabbage leaves on her-I topped her 2 of her 6 tops today-on the one of the three main branches that is dominant. I topped the bottom right girl for the second time yesterday, and like a dumbass, I accidentally chopped off a fan leaf...oopso_O
todayspic.jpg

I decided I'm doing two girls for the party cup competition, and that I'm going to start next Tuesday. That gives 4 more days of veg time for these girls, and then it's off to use 27 cents of Miracle Grow to win daddy's new lightbongsmilie Though, I like the cobs a lot, so idk if I even care about a light, hah.

Here's a view of the winning light combo:

Black Dog should have gotten the light by now, so I'm starting the clock on the repairs.

(edited some stuff. stoned)

Hi everyone, I hope your weekend is going well. I'm about to purify a 6x His-tagged protein...trying out a new resin :)

Here's a pic of the girls:) There's no seeds in the cups, just dry soil, but I put my party cups in the tent so that I can see where I want to have them placed.
