The scope

Salutations Zoic,

There's a multitude of possible similar clone variations to expect, Windows describes mine as follows:

"USB2.0 Camera"

Vendor ID: 1871
Product ID: 7670

Under Linux i vaguely recall this would read something like "1871-7670" using LSPCi, which in turn refers to "Aveo Technology Corp.", then their AV312 chip which possibly provides hints on graphical performance. Newer AV319 chips already date back to at least 2011 and only support 640x480 @ 25 fps, for example.

IMO future readers may appreciate having such information in order to seek the best value for their money, once the temptation to get one for themselves becomes irresistible...

:leaf:

Here are a few samples, to stimulate further interest:

African Tom (2015-Dec-16) [640x480] .PNG
Still somewhat "clear" or "early" above (few mature hairs are seen), with a comparative juxtaposition below showing nearly the same vs Tumbled Weed (e.g. from a lack of trichome glands), besides compressed stuff though with mature orange and purple hairs.

Trichomes under the Microscope - Good & Evil (2017-Oct-11) [640x480] .PNG

Or worse...

VILIFICATION by Excessive Tumbling (2018-Aug-10) [640x480] .PNG

It may be a result of marginal human intervention (below it looked too good to be true and was actually never encountered again...):

From Amber to Dark Red-Amber [640x480] .PNG

Then lets conclude with some horror display:

Dark Heat-Melted look (2015-Apr-11, 21 & 29) [640x480] .PNG
Elsewhere some members i showed it too once even commented it evoked "blasting", as i recall... So i guess the last sample got roasted beyond greed.

In any case that's quite sufficient to evaluate trichome color i believe, while practice makes perfect. Enjoy exploring such unsuspected world with new eyes, so to speak!

By the way, there are wireless units with desirable options as a stable stand, etc.

Good day, have fun!! :peace:

I bought one a few years ago but it won't work since I installed Windows 10. Check out an insect with one...trippy!

Well mine was only $30. I did not want to spend the dough on a high end microscope and this does just fine in all of its 640x480 glory. I really like a magnifier that can take snapshots.

Salutations,

Just keep in mind everyone may not get so lucky finding fair bargains, for example:
Back in October 2011 i could have commented that this Celestron 44320 Microscope kit acquired from Khan Scope Centre (Toronto/On) just felt fraudulent as i got most displeased to pay 128.76 $ CAD (all fees incl.) only to realize it was commercialized as a toy and quite probably a cloned one, considering its plastic quickly eroded within days after delivery...

Cost and resolution don't tell its whole story, such particular product obviously wasn't adequate for manipulation by any normal kid, not even adults actually: it optics generated intolerable amounts of chromatic aberration including in non-digital mode until it literally started to fall apart.

Good day, have fun!! :peace:

I got mine today :bigjoint:

Plugable
USB 2.0
Digital Microscope

From Amazon, paid $36 something with tax.

trichome1.JPG trichome2.JPG

pics at 100x magnification and can go up to 250x

3 Functions

Single shot
Time shot
and Video

If I've known that this gadget would make my life easy I would have bought it a long time ago instead of that 60x loupe. If you have some extra dough....IMO, its worth it.

I got a Celestron digital microscope that I used twice - it won't work on windows 10, so it's sat in a box ever since. It's going cheap if someone is still using windows 8....lol

Have you tried using "Compatibility Mode"? Try setting it for Windows 7.
