No that is not why Trump was elected; that's what Democrats tell themselves to about facing the truth that Mrs Clinton was an abhorrent choice for so many.

It's also what they tell themselves when they say they don't need to change anything.

I'm not voting for them until they stand of what I want from government- and until they get rid of Superdelegates.

Clinton got the majority vote.

Trump attracted the white racist vote, which it turns out is very helpful in close elections where the EC is weighted toward smaller states.

Are you going to vote for Republicans?

Trump attracted those who didn't think Hillary would represent them. That is a far larger group than just racists- but you tell yourself whatever you want.

I think you meant "trump attracted those who didn't think Hillary would represent them".

Can you cite results from surveys or analysis to back up that claim? I mean something that is not an opinion piece but something that contains facts-based analysis.

I have most certainly cited results from a very good study that showed Trump attracted people with his racist and misogynist rhetoric like no other candidate in the past few decades.

The success of the Trump campaign was due to the shifting demographics in this country. The racist, misogynist older white demographic were most definitely polarized by having an urbane and eloquent black man as president. They most certainly did not appreciate Clinton who was well prepared to become president. They voted for the exact opposite in Trump.
