there emzyne is worth using. shooting powder is worth using. depending on medium the drip is a must have. I'm not to sure on the bud xl any more. let others talk about it.

Im just using FFOF, first time grower fyi.

I saw people talking down about every item besides roots and dont know whst to think. Drip clean is pricey, i was atleast looking at shooting powder, possibly top shooter or whatever.

Magic green looks useful..

Just wanted to drop in and give my input on house and garden nutrients. Im growing in 100% coco (botanicare cocogro) and first time useing h&g nutes, becides shooting powder. Im running cocos a&b, roots excelerator, multizen, amino treatment, top booster, and shooting powder. And i got to say im beyond impressed, and will now only run h&g. Before h&g my previous runs I've used advanced nutrients full line, gh, and my last crop Humboldt nutrients natural line. And h&g is far suprior in my opinion.
Im like 25 days in bloom and currently i jhave no defiencies (knock on wood) so far, super fat stalks and awesome growth. I follow their nutrient calculator to the T and just adjusted the nutrient mix to the ec i want. In veg started out at .5 ec and by the ned of veg was at 1.0. Now im at 1.6 ec with no probelms whatsoever or no nute burn. I have a crop of 30 and i havent had to use any cal mag becides my white widow strain and chemdawg, but i be grow these before and feom my experience theirs super xcal mag hogs. I love how their cocos nutrients are formulated to have extra cal mag added so no need (for the most part) for cal mag additives.
All i know is whatever style of growing im going to run im always going to use h&g, period.

Here's a picture of a root mass from my incredable bulk strain i had to pull around week 2 of bloom due to hermie. And only transplanted into that pot 3 week prior to pulling, so prerty much only 3 weeks of root growth in the picture, before transplanting it was in a solo cup. IMG_0748.JPG IMG_0756.JPG And a picture of several plants from part of my crop at day 21. And my whole crop i only gave 3 weeks veg.

I'm running H&G in coco as well (DTW), but with a different approach.

Multiple feedings per light cycle (3 during flower) - 3 gal smart pots.

3ml/gal of Cocos A/B

1ml/gal of Dynagrow Protekt silica

3tsp of magnesium sulfate per 30 gal

Occasional CalMag if I think it's needed.

1ml/gal of Roots Excelurator in veg

With this setup, the plants stay healthy right through harvest and are producing 8 to 12oz per plant. Nice and simple.

I gave tried most of H&G's additives multiple times and did not notice a perceptible difference in quantity or quality for the money.

YMMV

I have their SOIL line A/B, Roots Excelurator, Drip Clean, Top Booster. Ocean Forest soil, in mostly 3 gallon smart pots going into 12\12 day 1 on day 46, I been upping mode dosage but use about 3ml A 3ml B per gallon, should I start making my nutes a few hours before I use it? I havnt my whole run, I smoke and make my mix and give it about 20min to sit each time I add base nute.

Is BudXL and any other additives worth it?

To be honest, I haven't seen enough benefit to justify any of the additives (including Shooting Powder). Roots is the exception.

Thank you for your time. Ya I like roots, but know no different because this is my first grow. Do you add root excel to seedlings as well in soil?
May I ask what all you use for flowering?

Can't agree more. I've been using H&G for a long time now and will never use any other. OBEY THE SWAN!

Top shooter is very similar to PK 13/14 but with some additional Iron (FE). Which in a way makes sense because too high P reduce Iron uptake.

It's not really necessary, but, H&G is a little high on N for hydro ime so a little bit of during flowering could lead to a slightly better NPK ratio.

Top Shooter and RE are completely different products with the latter being bigger bullshit than the former. Use a very low doses of RE in hydroponics (as warned on the H&G US site's calc). Same with Top shooter though, use a very low doses if you're going to use it.
I was just looking around and saw this. You are speaking of Top Booster not Top Shooter. Top Shooter is the liquid equivalent of Shooting Powder. Your info on these nutrients seems to be completely inaccurate.

Yes you are correct, apart from that last comment...

Yes, you can use soil A&B in promix. Be sure to add dolomitic lime to the promix. It tends to turn acidic over time. Aqua Flakes is for hydro.

Sent from Northern Colorado.
Hi There! I saw this post and just wanted to give the proper info. For ProMix you can use Soil A/B but Aqua Flakes is really what does the best - mostly because the dosage rates are better so it will cost less. ProMix is an inert coco/peat based media and not considered to be a "traditional soil". Aqua Flakes is for all recirculating situations and inert "hybrid" medium types.
