Just started a side by side. H&G aqua flakes & Bud XL only, vs. Dry salts that we mix in house. I've used the whole H&G line before but in coco. This will be in RDWC, 150 gallon res. I'll post some results or thoughts if you all want.
Sounds good, keep us posted.

Holy smokes... 6 years later almost and this thread is still alive lol!!

I've run all these nute brands at this point... H&G (Aqua Flakes) is a great recirculating nutrient. We use drip clean in every setup, still don't understand it or know what it truly is or how it works. RE is not the same as it used to be, much cheaper alternatives at this point. Most of what is found in Amino Treatment can be found cheaper as well. Multi zen is multi zen, it works. I think Bud XL is multi zen with a few added ingredients at 2x the price. Shooting powder & Top booster are good cheap bloom boosters. Top shooter is crazy expensive. The Rhizo force drops this month (Bacto Force in Holland/Europe). Nitrogen boost is an expensive veg booster but works to... Boost nitrogen. Algen is another decent product but ridiculously overpriced even at 1-2ml per gal. Soil & Cocos are decent base nutrients at best although all the H&G bases are priced right. Magic green is crap. No experience with the Hydro or 1 parts.

For us, and we've run it all (GH, An, botanicare, fox farm, peters, jacks, Dutch master, mills, uber, yellow bottles, rock, canna, complete, Plagron, green planet, x, technaflora, grotek and a million more I'm probably forgetting), WERE GETTING BETTER RESULTS CONSISTENTLY with Heavy 16 bases and Aptus additives. We're also testing New Millennium Nutrients bases with the Aptus and its crushing. Some lines liked certain fert regimens better than others but as a whole the h16/Aptus & nm/Aptus is killing it. We do add drip clean, budswel, rapidstart, canna boost & rock Resinator outside of our regular line up. Before you all start attacking me, we've gotten our cost down to an avg of .52c per gallon (not accounting for the boost as foliar, 1L bottle will supply a 40k grow for a full run the way we use it) which is pretty low in comparison to most of the liquid nutrients out there marketed towards the hydro industry.

Oh, and we're hitting 2.5 per light with 60 day genetics.

I am currently using H&G line of nutes. I am using a RDWC and I need advice from people that have used Top Shooter in their RDWC. I used the roots excelurator and it completely slimed my system. I know not to use organics or carbs and I don't know if Top Shooter falls in that category. I am hoping someone can tell me that they have used it in their system and it didn't get slimed.

Top shooter is very similar to PK 13/14 but with some additional Iron (FE). Which in a way makes sense because too high P reduce Iron uptake.

It's not really necessary, but, H&G is a little high on N for hydro ime so a little bit of during flowering could lead to a slightly better NPK ratio.

Top Shooter and RE are completely different products with the latter being bigger bullshit than the former. Use a very low doses of RE in hydroponics (as warned on the H&G US site's calc). Same with Top shooter though, use a very low doses if you're going to use it.

H&g is a good line, but I def saw issues in later flower due to mg or cal. started yellowing fan leaves then moved up and smaller. I flushed a bunch but i let it get to bad to save em. it was week 7 that I pulled em for hash. Seemed they may have started to hermie. The heat topped at 85 too, SO basically just pushing to many limits at once. The guy who started me at the store gave me cocos. But I use f&d pots w res. Found out the magnetic drive used by the pump causes the metalics to be pulled out possibly causing deficiencies... So now I have starting using aquas which is formulated with that in mind apparently. Additionally be careful on f and d pots. I run 50/50 coco perlite, when roots are not fully propagated through the entire pot over watering and nitrogen lockout can occur. just a few lil things ive read and learned about the e&b. I got a couple of flood tables too. The LED table has nitrogen lockout cause it didnt get as hot as hps, so the coco stayed drenched longer. fun to learn about, shitty to experience.

So you have used Top Shooter in an RDWC with good results? I just have to be careful how much to use...

I will be honest. I have a 117 gallon setup and I plan on using 50ml first just to see how much it brings my ppm up.

Thanks for the quick response too..

I used it in recirculating hydroponics (flooded tubes / NFT) but I don't contribute any of the good results specifically to using top booster. I used only A and B nowadays. And unlike the previous poster I never had Ca or Mg issues, AB contain plenty of both.

So we're 6 weeks into my head to head, H&G vs our house blend of salts. The H&G looks to be of better quality and weight. I'm only running A & B and Bud XL. The H&G is just so much more consistent pH wise, that's the biggest difference that I can tell right off the bat. Pics are of Chem Sour D on the H&G. Oh... I also can only run the H&G at 1.1 ec where I have to run our house blend at 1.4.

Hey everyone, I am looking for some advice on h&g. I wanted to test them out so I went a got a sample pack. I really didn't do much looking into them but the base nutes I got were for Soil A & B. At first I just wanted to try their additives like bud xl, shooting powder and drip clean. After hearing good things about them I would like to try the base nutes as well. The thing is I use promix and was wondering if the soil a & b would work with a soil less medium. After reading up on these nutes it seems that aqua flakes would of been my best option but I just want to know if I can still use the soil a & b in promix. Any advice is well appreciated, thanks!!

Yes, you can use soil A&B in promix. Be sure to add dolomitic lime to the promix. It tends to turn acidic over time. Aqua Flakes is for hydro.

Soil A&B will work, but aqua flakes is best in your situation. And some will say coco A&B is best in your situation. I can't believe they still sell soil A&B.
