ive started using the shooting powder and it has had more effect than any other product ive used for bud size. for trich development in the last 2 weeks snowstorms my fav hands down

Just finished testing out Bud XL, Top Booster and Shooting Powder. Used them separately and in various combinations.

The Bud XL worked great. Increased the size of buds without question. It's basically a carbohydrate substitute so it does as advertised. However I didn't notice significant growth compared to other carb supplements.

Top Booster is without a doubt my new favorite supplement. It is to be used after the first months bloom is complete. Significant bud size increase noticed that week and the 6th week bloom is massive. I highly recommend this product.

Shooting Powder/Top Shooter is a bust for me. I noticed that my buds looked stretched. When the harvest came in my buds were stemmed out. Every bud broken apart had stretched stems throughout the bud. To verify, since it was the only product I didn't find useful, I ran it again and the same thing occurred. This was also the case when I used all three as directed. The Shooting Powder/Top Shooter ruined my buds.

Hope this is helpful.

Was that with all 3 in combination?
It didn't matter if I used all three as directed or just the Shooting Powder/Top Shooter my buds were awful as a result. I use the Bud XL and the Top Booster (along with Aqua Flakes A+B) and it gets me the best results.

I'll try to remember and post some pics after my lights come on so you can see what I mean.

What light you using? What's the difference. Between your day temps and night temps?
I added shooting powder for the first time last night... 3 teaspoons to 10ltrs? I swear the plant was violently shaking after applying! Scrog net looked like a spider's web lol... so I think I can notice accelerated weight gain...time will tell...
P.s. what strain you running?

Day and night temps are usually between 68F at night and 78F on a hot day. 400W HPS and Blue Dream was my test strain. 3 Teaspoons to 10L is A LOT for Shooting Powder. I used 2 grams in a 5 gallon reservoir. DWC grow.

This first image you can see where the bud starts to stretch. This is not followed by swelling and result in less density. Straight up stem.

This one shows how the buds leaves push out and extend. It starts to look like your tight bud leaves try to fan out. So instead of compact budding they form these thin, airy, stem filled buds.

It's somewhat of a known issue with Shooting powder, especially on sativas and haze hybrids it can results in stretchy foxtailing buds.

You claim to notice not only an increase in bud size but "significant increase". How did you measure that? Was that in a side by side?

Also were do you get the info about what's in Bud XL? It's just NPK 4-0-1.

I figure the product website telling me it is derived from carbohydrates, vitamins B&E and plant extract is a pretty solid guideline.
NPK just tells you the nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. It doesn't tell you the rest of the ingredients nor is it a guideline for what else is in the nutrient/supplement. They are the big three so it is a standard for all nutrients (and a lot of soils) to list NPK value.

The significant increase with the use of the Top Booster was done with side-by-side comparison and final weight totals. I have also (as I always do) use the nutrient/supplement on three plants against not using it. It's too easy to fall in love with hype and imagine a difference.

Yes I'm aware of that. :) I don't remember the description on the site including any more details than the nonsense in the 'summary'. Thanks for the link. Bud XL was one of the few additives I considered reconsidering, but after reading Vitamin B and E and 'plant extract', I know enough. The rest (besides the basic elements) what's in it is irrelevant. Plants take up ions, not vitamins, plant extract, or sugars.

Yes. Top Booster is just PK13/14 with some additional Fe (overdose P lead to reduce iron uptake) and meant to compete with Canna's PK13/14 "hype".

Alright call it hype. I use it and I notice a difference. It's inexpensive and you only have to use it once per plant. Call me crazy if I notice a difference in bud size and density. Good talk.

Hype ("Bud XL", "Top Booster" says it all really, products created for the blind followers).

Imagine*

Water is inexpensive too, I don't use 200% of what I need though. That 20 bucks you waste on top booster is what I use for nutes in total for the entire run.

Crazy.

I had better. Surely pics and logs of said side-by-side would improve it.

Do you think using top shooter later in flowering would give better results with less foxtailing? I definitely agree that it is a frequent issue caused by the product. I also believe that I've never seen a plant dump more frost is the final weeks than if H&G is used correctly.

This is probably my 1st post in Riu. Always on GC.

Im switching from dyna grow full line to H&G. DG was cheap and worked fine no complaints.
So I dont confuse you guys with my writing imma have to list this out.

Im Currently Using.
  • H&G Aquaflakes A&B- Base
  • H&G Mulit Zen- Peace of mind, I dont notice anything different yet maybe after harvest.
  • H&G Roots - Best roots I have ever had. They filled up the 5 gallon bucket completely.

  • GH Armor si- Silica
  • GH Diamond Nectar- Humic
  • GH Kool Bloom- Low PK boost
  • Dyna Gro Magpro
  • Great White
  • GH Florakleen- flush

I want to buy.

H&G Bud Xl- I used all kinds of sweeteners, I would use the cheapest if you guys recommended it.
H&G Top shooter - To replace my 50/30 monster grow if recommended.

Im growing in

5x5 tent
1000w / xxxl hood
co2
2plant 20 gal RDWC with a huge air pump. Grows super fast.

Im in week 4.5 and im gettin a lb+ no matter what.
Trichs are heavy and I dont know what else to say.

Im starting the sweetners this week and about to switch to the 50/30 next week. I like my high pk's, huge buds. My Trichs are stickier than any dyna gro grow without the addition of any sweetners.

My buds seem 2 weeks ahead of any dyna gro grow although I switched from 600w to 1000w so no comparison really.

The question is

Should I drop the money on Bud XL and Top shooter or just go with the Botanicare sweet(or recommended) and stick with the 50/30 monster grow?

The roots excel contains high quality silica and humic and a micro heard so you shouldn't need the extra silica.humic and great white...with the addition of the bud xl and top booster you shouldn't need the kool bloom, I would suggest looking into the shooting powder and drip clean to use with those, Sans florakleen...
