ok im a first timer and I have 4 questions. how long until I should start using the a and b? is there a chart or a measuring bucket that can help me with mix measurements? its a pain in the ass that it doesn't just have a measurement per gallon. last question is, im doing a massive scrogg and im not sure with all the watering required how im going to get under my nets. Does anyone have any tips or homemade ideas for watering?

And to he honest (ive have a couple decades experience growing cannabis indoors under HID lighting).....those additives that Canna wants you to use make a marginal difference of that. Use the base nutrient at 2 teaspoons each of part a and b for fully developed plants w8th a solid root structure whether in veg or full bloom and you should be set. Of course you should know your starting water ec too...but 2 tsp a gallon each part....most should be solid.

Alright folks, has anybody notice there's two Official canna coco and nutes threads, one which is 97 pages but only the last page has writing on it.. I wonder what happened there!

Anyway I just had a thought, just wondering how many times you folks have recycled your Coco coir? I wonder what the longest someone's run the same coco for?

I have just slung out about 250 litres over the last few months. But most of mine is over 3 years old. Some is probably 4. I chucked all mine after the first year when I used GH Ripen once and it hermied my plants so I started fresh. Still got about 200L left from my hoarding, was gona chuck that but it looked so damn good when I opened my tub earlier today.

What I've been doing, is flooding it. If it sinks, it gets pitched, if it floats I skim it and squeeze the water out and it's ready for next time.

The stuff that sinks tends to get water logged and doesn't hold much air.

Never tried that.
I siv mine with a wire bin when its dry and the roots stay in the bin, then I just sling it in a big old 200l container, probably stays in there a month then use when I need it.

I reuse it up to three runs ususally. Lately i been just buying new Canna bricks. Cheap enough. I got a mountain 2 and 3 gallon rootballs behind my garage in a weed (non smokable) bed of thorny bushy crap. I ususally go back there in the fall and break it all up with a hoe and shovel. I really reuse coco in the winter. Rinse it good. Recharge with calmag at about 350 ppm up to 500 ppm. And replant.

I ran a few grows with auto pots, obviously had to add clay pebbles. So I'm reluctant to chuck it into my garden. I tried once and still find the odd clay pebble in my flower beds. I don't like them balls. Still have hundreds in what I have left, every time I siv I pull maybe 50 out( I get bored after 50). One day I might have got rid of the lot!! lol

I use CalMag here and there in small amounts. Never tried a dose for recharging. But I don't have the base knowledge you have. I know that much. I will give it a good old dose next time, still going to be a while before that happens.
When I had a look earlier I was surprised how lush it looks. All the tiny roots have vanished, guess that's almost like compost now. I will mix it in with some fresh stuff when I'm ready to rock again. Was planning on adding about 30% perlite too, I have always had small amounts in there but never tried such a big percentage. Haha can you folks tell I'm stoned and waffling?
I know Coco isn't expensive, its just a pain in the arse to get rid of without a large outdoor garden. If I go in my local woods its full of dumped coco and root balls and Hydroton.

I buy fresh canna coco for every grow, 2 reasons why i do this that may be right or wrong, i don't know but for the sake of £12 a bag i buy new.
the first reason is when i riddle/sieve the coco to get the old roots out it removes all the long hairy bits of the fibre that i think maybe 1 of the reasons coco is good at oxygenating the roots

reason 2 is, i think salts build up in the coco which cant be good for the roots, i think flushing it is a waste of time, ever tried to rinse the salt off a pot under a tap, waste of time unless you rub it as well, but even if flushing it does get rid of the salts its more work, i do anything that makes my life easier as i have MS, and ia'm feckin knackered LOL

i dont use perlite at all, when i switched to coco the guy in the hydro shop told me to try grow stones, so thats what i use, they seem to work ok, the trouble with perlite i found was if you use a lot it floats and undermines the roots

Switch to tupur you'll thank me later coco, perlite, organic compost
