Well... DUH... What took me so long to think of this ???
I was replacing the activated charcoal inline filter for my ice makers in the house, so I ordered 2.
Installed it this AM.
Odorless. tasteless, chlorine free add backs and refills from now on.
Actually a simple but significant upgrade to the MACHINE !

A lot of light was getting in thru the plant holding medium, probably added to the start of the slime.
A hunk of tin foil and some tape fixed that.
And some reflectivity too !

Well, I wasn't thinking of using the parabolic reflector till next run, but I reconfigured it pretty easy from the stock size of 42" diameter, to 28 ".
I loosely bolted the reflector fins to the top plate, then treaded a length of fishing line through the bottom holes and cinched it up.
The overlaps were all different so I averaged the distance of all then drilled 8 holes and bolted it all up.

Added BONUS !
When I ordered this, it was the $42 cheapie with the silver aluminum finish.
The deluxe WHITE model ($20 more and the best reflectivity) is what was in the box
This is really gonna spread the light !!!

Parabola baby !!!
Just look at the 4th & 5th pics.
The flash is bouncing around in there.
When I get the Phillips CDM mounted vertically in there, AND with the way I reshaped it, the sides are almost 90 degrees from the top, it is going to be unreal !
ALL nugs will be bombarded from EVERY angle with intense light as the curvature of the parabola magnifies/multiplies the light as well.

I really NEED to bite the bullet and get this added to my list of mods NOW, not next run.
This just MAY be the thing that pushes the machine over the top.....?

As soon as I chop, I gotta get the plants hung in something else to dry so I can get started on my mods.
I am excited to get the reflector and lamp socket installed as well as the gaining of 4 inches of height.

I was thinking of a big cardboard box with wire hangers, a fan blowing in at the bottom and stick my carbon filter, (after baking the carbon) up top???
Any ideas guys???

I looked at the Phillips lamp again and thought it might stick down too low as it screws into the stock hanger mount / mogul socket assembly.
The mount had the little square metal junction box screwed on up top with the wire connections inside to the supplied 10 ft ballast cord, then the socket mounted to that.
By eliminating the box, I can wire nut directly to the feed from my ballast and be able to use the socket at its original position, or raise it up to 2 inches higher, placing some of the neck of the lamp through the hole in the top of the reflector.
I will decide the location with the lamp on and then move it up and down to see how it affects the cone of light.

The neighbor threw away this box 42" x 42" x 10", so I made a drying room out of it.
Put a spare fan I have on the bottom left, installed my carbon filter from the fridge on the top right.
Cut a door in the front.
I installed 26, 10" pieces of coated wire, a little over 21 feet of hanging wire inside the box.

The nugs look especially sparkly because I employed a new technique (to me) called "Bud Washing" !
Filtered tap water in all 3 buckets, 1st bucket has 1 cup baking soda and 1 cup lemon juice.
Swish the branch vigorously for 30 seconds then rinse in bucket #2 and #3 20-30 seconds each.
Then I took the branch outside and swung it around in a circle very hard to sling off the excess water, then into the box.
Check out this technique invented by "Doc Bud":

Hey Deth,

Nice grow and harvest. Learned a lot from following your posts. Thank you!

I have a question about your carbon filter thinger-mi-jig. Can you elaborate on how you made it? I am out of ideas on creating a filter for my exhaust.
