Pats or Genos?

Those are different but only average. The good stuff is in the suburbs. The old families have little pizza shops in the neighborhood strip malls.

I have been away for 20 years but when I visited home about 6 years ago my favorite one was long gone.

The newer one my mom showed me had great pizza but the steak sandwich was not up to par.

But the Chinese place she took me too had this crab asparagus soup that was amazing.

I miss good Chinese too. :-)

I was in philly in the navy.
Miss the cheese steak sandwiches and the stromboli man.

Also watching people rob me on south street.
1986 that place was nuts at night

Once I was eating outside looking over the street at a bistro patio and a car alarm went off right out front. Then 4 big guys drove off in a black Mercedes with the alarm going off. Lol.

In broad daylight.

Around 88 we used to go to a club with 3 levels in an old warehouse building on front street.

It was a disco on the first floor. A heavy metal club with a mosh pit in the middle and a Grateful Dead cover band up top complete with blankets picknic baskets and naked hippie chicks. And a beach ball always bouncing around.

We knew the band from school days so we had quite the time up there. :-)

Thats funny,
We got kicked out of a bar and this dude noticed our uniforms.
Took up to this club with couches and tiny little dance floor.
I think I fell down several flights if stairs on my way to the street.
They put me in a cab.

I had several close calls in that town

It was a trick question. All but tourists know the best cheese steak comes from Jim's on 4th and South. I'd kill for one right now but it's a 2000 mile drive.

I went to Chicago with some navy buddies a couple of times when I was going to navy "A" school at Great Lakes in '76
One time we ate at a place right across the street from the site of the St. Valentine's Day massacre, they had this kind of pizza that was baked in an earthenware bowl with the crust on top, like a sort of pizza pot pie, then you turned it upside-down on the plate and levered the crust off and the gooey innards flowed out. It was really good. I bought a pair of Earth Shoes down the street
