The legalization petition

I have it in my hands. I read it three times and it looks solid. I don't see anything about warrant-less searches. If anyone has any questions feel free to ask.

How does it affect mmj and caregiver-patient relationships.
Stays the same.
I found something about if you are enrolled in a medical marijuana program you can get a tax exemption. section 9 d says this act does not limit any privileges or rights of a medical marijuana patient, caregiver,or licensed entity as provided in michigan law or the laws of any other unit of government.

You need to look at what Legislation is doing with the MMM Act while they have it opened up and are making Legislative changes to it, they think they can get the 75% supermajority yea vote to pass. This is where Legislature can slip in a warrantless Search, in the Medical Marihuana Act.

You need to keep things in context or you risk making grave errors.

there 2 are petition in ciruclation atm. Mi Legalize and MRC both are now in Circulation.

MCC will be presenting their 3rd Version of Legalized Recreational Pot.

Then there was one petition being submitted in an attempt to make it Lawful...

Then there is the one I and the group I am working with, which would remove government past the point of sale at a retail or commercial cash register and retail/commercial products. But keeps them out of your private life where cannabis is concerned.

Have any of these petitions addressed the Federal Supremacy Clause of which render them and every other piece of state legislation irrelevant as it relates to marijuana being treated as a schedule I controlled substance in a federal court of law?

I believe even our current MMMA needs a "legal disclaimer" as to this very relevant fact of the matter. Maybe NORML would sponsor it if provided a link to their defense attorneys in return ;-)

I believe normal is sponsoring this petition. section 18 says this act does not preempt, prevent, or obstruct federal enforcement of federal law. section 19 says no contract is unenforceable on the basis that marihuana is prohibited by federal law. I think it is still important we get this going. The federal thing is not going to change anytime soon. At least we can get this ball rolling on the state level.

This act offers protection for patients and caregivers, cultivation of hemp, allows dispensary's, and a 12 plant recreational use. If you guys cant see the light at the end of the tunnel then you never will.

When local narcotics task forces almost entirely funded by federal dollars turn to the individual providing those checks (a fed agent, most likely DEA) to solicit warrants, court dates and convictions within our federal court system will you be surprised

Just ask any one of these patient/caregivers about the federal system and their prisons without parole ...

Would any of these petitions have saved any of their lives?

It's time to go knocking at the White House and US Department of Justice and demand changes to the Controlled Substance Act. That is the only thing that will change anything and no lawyers, legislators or their lobbies are required. Just a show of solidarity as it relates to true justice under the law. Congress would soon follow as they have with every other civil rights issue in our history.

Until we go marching to the white house we need to get it legal statewide. /\/\/\ If you get busted with 7 pounds of weed crossing state lines it your own fault. If they followed the mmm laws they wouldn't have been arrested.

I'll give you that. I will obviously vote yes on every piece of pro MJ legislation offered on the 2016 ballad, but I will not expect anything to really change. Although, as with those dozens of patients/caregivers persecuted above, I know many more will be injured as "ignorance is not a defense to the law" and that concerns me. That is the point I was trying to make. There will be no NORML defense attorneys looking for work in another industry that is for sure ...

No election or politician stopped slavery, women suffrage or Jim Crow laws in this country did they? Back in 2008 many believed electing Obama/Holder would bring integrity to marijuana's wrongful classification and it's abuses by our "justice system" did they not? Placing your trust in elected officials has never been a more foolish endeavor than it is today IMHO. Do you honestly think the next election or set of politicians taking control and responsibility will change anything?

The federal Controlled Substance Act and marijuana's wrongful classification as a Schedule I Controlled Substance is the clear and definable linchpin to this problem nationwide. It is the only fact of the matter that will change a damn thing in reality and the past 20 years of playing local politics should make that painfully obvious. Where there is a will there is a way until marijuana is no longer a part of the CSA and drug war. When do we come up with an actual plan to address the actual problem?
