Wow! Just finished my first batch with my new washing machine and frenchy bags from boldtbags. Everything is so nice and just works so smooth. The bags are so much nicer than my bubble magic bags! Does anyone have any tips for draining the machine? Mine was getting clogged a little, but it was nothing I couldn't fix with a wooden spoon. All help is greatly appreciated! Thanks friends!!

I use a silicone mouthpiece for bongs to blow out the offending plant material out of the drain tube.

Cut down the teeth of your drain cover, blowing through the exhaust pipe is all I need to unclog my machine and it actually plug rarely mainly with sugar trims

I repressed my bubble hash after 2 weeks of curing, divided it up and rolled it into balls to cure for another 2 weeks. I had to try a sample of it and it's delicious, I'm so glad I tried this method! I used a variety of strains but the terpenes all blended well and just linger on the tongue. Its full melt, has the smoothness of vaporizing and has me floating in the clouds right now. Thanks for sharing the knowledge Frenchy!
Knowledge is to be shared

Love the thread, have been reading through all the great info while attempting to make my first round of water hash! No machine so did everything by hand with bags. Used Frenchy methods to press (boiling water in glass bottle) .

The first press it got really sticky and fragrant, rolled it up into a long log type (twisted it up after to attempt a cannoli look of course). Second press I started to really see the change in it. Came out looking a lot lighter and still sticky. Pressed it a third time for good measure and let it chill. Ended up getting super dry and flaky looking and not sticky at all. It smokes well and has a great head buzz to it but it seems off! Where did I go wrong guys?! Was thinking of putting a little in my hand to warm it back up... we live in Maine so the temps here arent warm at all and we have dry wood heat to heat the house. Any and all advice welcome!

Best thread on RUI for sure!!! Thanks for all the knowledge. :blsmoke:

The resin wasn't totally dry. Drying perfectly is the most difficult part of the process.

Frenchy, what is your opinion on using things like vacuum chamber or freeze dryer or dehydrator to dry hash as opposed to drying on racks in a controlled environment? Have you experimented with any of those methods?

Kinda frustrating I know heh heh heh but the resin is probably still really good for mixing into flower. you also might try rosin tech-ing it if you hate the flakes.

otherwise use a hair straightener to press small pieces between parchment prior to smoking.

I am using a freeze dryer and I need to test a vac oven to be able to do some comparative testing

Frenchy,

Dry freezer extraction is simply collecting trichomes when the bud is dry and frozen in a frozen environment. It's easy if you live in the land of ice and snow like I do, or if you have a walk-in freezer which of course most do not. Fresh Headies or Bubbleman sells a box screen set you can use in the freezer at home. Freeze everything, the bud and the screens. Open the freezer and break up a frozen bud or resin trim over the top screen. It'll be very brittle and the trichs will lose their stickiness. Close the freezer door and let cool down before you do this again. After you've done this gently there will be many trichomes left on the plant material which you can run through the bubble bags at a later time to make water bubble hash. Why do I do this? Because I find freezer extracted hash to be very tasty and pure and preserves the prime terps being my first run or sift of bud which is very potent with no terps lost in water, but you don't get as much with other methods if you do it right and be gentle. Any trichs I don't pick up frozen and dry, I'll pick up by running through the washer. Sometimes I'll do a whole crop this way. Making hash out of it all. Dry and frozen freezer hash first and then ice wax. Freezer extracted hash can then be hand worked using your methods.
What difference can sieving in a cold environment have on the final quality of the resin??? Also you are NOT extracting, you are sieving according to the definition of the world extraction (Extraction in chemistry is a separation process consisting in the separation of a substance from a matrix.)

Damn I've been calling my bubble hash IWE (ice water EXTRACTION) all along. :P

What should I be calling it? Ice hash? Ice water hash? Ice water resin? I don't like to call it hash because it's not pressed. I don't like to call it Bubble because the name bubblehash is commonly associated with a very low quality product where I'm from.

these things matter to me haha

It would be nice to have a common name for unpressed resin

It's called "Garda" in the unpressed state in Afghanistan and Pakistan Tribal territories . Not sure what the english translation is exactly and I guess the term Garda would be impractical in our part of the planet but just sayin' BTW folks if ya have a spare moment check out my Charsi Baba youtube channel I'm collecting and posting videos of traditional hash culture in the Af/Pak region . https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCpM3zWvHJOi050k0RBXMNaA
