separated some trichomes tonight utilizing the Ice water methodology

afterward I did as you (Frenchy) suggested and used a tea strainer rather than chop the resultant gatherings.

I was spreading the 73u out a bit more on the parchment and much to my surprise a found a dime sized piece had melted to the end of my thumb.

next time I'll chill the lumps and use a finer strainer.

thanks for all the guidance.

OK I have a hypothetical question.

I have a big cooler of 50% ice and 50% water and it has been sitting combined for 6 hours. (ie water is Ice cold)

How much water and how much Ice is recommended for an initial full sized run? (lets say room is 74 F and trim is dry.)

please answer in % or based on pounds @ 8# per gallon

should ice be distributed evenly top and bottom?

that looks fantastic... I can really see the results of the secondary washing and thorough rising.

IF I might ask how did you prep the bars prior to placing them in the machine.

I remember them to be about 3/8 think by 1 1/4 wide by 4 1/4 long. and were resting on a 25um screen which was folded over the bar to envelope them and that was wrapped in a terry towel and the entire kit was then placed in the fridge.

did you keep i them refrigerated prior to drying?

did you place the bars on parchment and or in a pyrex dish etc (.did you leave it on the 25u. screen ? ) before placing them in the fridge.

what method, if any did you spread it out any before drying?

chop, press through a sieve etc.

you might have gathered I am having concerns about developing my own drying methodologies, strategies and tactics

the base of my information is your videos, instruction from the class and a limited amount of personal experience.

vacillating on the machines purchase right now. the Frenchy boldt bags are a no brain-er by my way of thinking.

sorry about all the questions at once.

Thanks in advance.
The resin was kept in the fridge until I had enough patties to fill my dryer, and it was pressed once dry. A machine simplify seriously the whole operation

Put together a stirring bucket with a drain system so I can cease using a "work bag" to stir in

View attachment 3485791

and built a new 4 bucket stack for my 190,160,120,73,45u (will probably pull the 120 after the first 2 washes ang give each its own ring (Ive have been getting some really fine Blue Dream heads from the first 2 catches in that bag) Ill strain the run off through a 25u for edibles.
I'll be using a 45 psi sprayer for the clean up rinses (hopefully it will be strong enough)

Cant wait to get some full mesh bags because JK got werk to do.

if anyone needs info on how to DTYS for the mixing bucket just shout out and Ill throw together a parts and tool list.
You don't want any type of filter in your working bucket it will hamper the flow and clog when you want to empty it

You want as little ice as possible, the ice only crush the trims

I tried running it wide open and trims ran out like there was no tomorrow until a piece of ice totally blocked it.

Im going to try a piece of 1/4 mesh next.

hopefully my washer should be here in a week or so...

You want a very large mesh and trims will pass through but worst case scenario you put it back if you feel that they have not been washed properly but it is generally not necessary

Kinda a dreary day here in So NV so I thought I would play with a bit of 45u powder I had from the last run which has been drying for a few days.100_1659.JPG

so after 30 sec I lifted my thumb and checked out what had stuck to it 100_1660.JPG nearly all of the powder was stuck to my thumb (:

so i folded it and squished it a few more time in the next two minutes or so ...100_1662.JPG and got a nice little chunk. it looked pretty good so I took it a step further and pressed it some more. 100_1664.JPG( and Yes I did pull out the hair that was probably on my hand ) I felt things were looking up when it stuck to my finger tip 100_1665.JPG so I decided to fold it up again and break out my small h2o bottle gave it a bit of a press 100_1667.JPG of course I had to roll the sticky Cannoli 100_1677.JPG (one more for contrast) 100_1680.JPG

and finally took a 40X glamour shot 100_1686.JPG

this bit of resin turned out much darker from start to finish I think it was because I left it in the bag during the run. ( I did however shake out the water between washes) still looks and smells like it should.

You don't have to collect the 45 at every wash if you work with the 73 but you need to wash it thoroughly every time

Dam was so busy goofing off here I forgot to pop the lavender .. 100_1699.JPG this is from my patient grow so I know it from a baby.
But its so cool when growers just give you nugs 100_1696.JPG to run and tell you just get it to me whenever..

and they know you will.

On the other hand...
I usually dont mind girls in my garden but this one can stay the hell home 100_1380.JPG can you imagine the damage she could do?

Dig this one people,

Wild I knew a Mexican guy back in like 78 that would do the same thing he used flowers in his mix as well though.

I remember that was one of the times I got really stoned ever I was like almost 16.

another time my Brother in law just got back from 4 months in Kuwait working in the oil fields there he had some Afghani he brought back with him.

that shit put me on my ass for like 4 hours I remember literally crawling from the back yard to the house on all fours after smoking a joint of it with him. .

the only thing else I remember was that and him telling my sister "Tim is just really stoned" she was so pissed at him for that.

I was smoking about 1/4 to 1/2 of a lid of commercial pot a week at the time.

Ha HA i just remember how we used to call it a lid. funny how things change.

Wow just got through the entire thread some serious gold in there.

funny how things really got quiet during the last year Kinda sad when you think about it.

We all should be going full bore with the ice water separation methodologies.
