one more word of advice/caution - handle the bulbs with dry, clean hands - or better yet - use latex gloves (moisture is what causes the bulbs to pop) - that's another great thing about getting the glass cover - protects the bulbs when/if you foliar feed.

Thanks email. You can obviously tell how concerned I am about this issue. Maybe that is what has held me back for so long in getting something better like this.

Excellent info email. Most appareciated. Did I rep you yet. If I haven't I sure will. You seem to be always helping me.

1100 watts of light.

BTW I only posted about my light in the 'other' thread to try and break up the fight not to try and get extra attention. I hate fights.

thanks Lacy -- you are also very helpful. I saw your questions on the other thread - and figured you were trying to chill folks out - which is why i responded in a joking manner (metric adjustable wrench indeed). i don't have anything against fights - but i prefer they be over something worthy - which is a pretty rare situation.

i did want to mention that i think you'll know what to do to set up your light intuitively (once you see it) but if you run into any troubles - drop me a line. i'll be happy to help if i can.

and oh yeah .... you'll be shocked at how fast your plants grow with all that light. no really you will!

Yeah...you're totally cool. I rep'ed ya.

I don;'t like fighting. A worthwhile debate is one thing but that was just over a silly thing and got WAY out of hand.:?

Yes I don't think I am going to have a probably with it either email.
I light to toke but I'm not totally "out to lunch' either.

My plants really need some light. I used to have 10 double 4 foot fluorescents but hubby threw them out and didn't tell me until renetly. :cuss::lol:

I goota gte off here and get some work done.

Thx again email.

Thanks budsmoker. I got something.
I looked at eBay and found a nice Sun System 100 MH and a Sun System 6 MH/hps 1000 plus 3 bottles of DNF all for $277. I said it was $257 earlier but I made a mistake. I'm only apying $16 shipping fees so I'm happy with what I got.

Thanks again for all your help. I am going have to go through your journal some more. Real impressive. I have a problem with the pics cause I'm on dial up.

And it is NOT out of choice. I just can't get dial up out here.:-?
But other than that. Its all good.:blsmoke:

I can't wait to get my lights. between those and 2 double fluorescents, I'm gonna be ok.

My grow room is not nearly ready yet so I am going to put some of them in an empty double closet. It has all white walls that have flat paint, until I can get my hubby to help me. Nothing seems to be happened SOOOOOOO its time to start being carpenter myself.

I'll get out all of his hand tools and power tools and start.:-|

lacy if you want info on the used combo ballasts Grow Lights, Hydroponic Supplies and more at Brite Ideas they have the phone# on the site

The lights I picked are awesome. I have the sunsystems 100 watt and a 1000 watt MH.
They both work great. I'm no longer confused about the lighting. This is just an old thread. :|

You read the entire thing? :o
Wow! Ok for you then I will add a quick summary as to my findings
Many people here use an hps system for flowering. The reason being is tht it has more yellows, roanges and reds in it for flowering.
In late autumn or in the last stages of growth (flowering) the sun has more of these colours in it. The thing is it STILL has greens and blues in it, the blues being vital to healthy plant growth. The blues are what make vigorous healthy plant growth which is vital especially in the vegetative cycle BUT it is also very important in the flowering stage.
You don't want to substitute all your blue tones for reddish ones as you end up with buds that aren't as dense.

I presently use a 1000 watt MH ballast with a 3 foot reflector thats umbrella shaped.
I use a sunmaster warm deleuxe bulb which has a balanced spectrum of light for both the veg cycle and the flowering stage.
Yes I can do better but I must admit that it works really good. My buds end up tight and compact which is how I like them to be.
I like to be able to just crumble my buds up before I toke.

I also discovered that increasing your lights past 18 hours is a total waste of hydro. Plants can only absorb so much light and the rest is just a waste.
If fact, they need a resting time.

Just my thoughts on the subject. Doesn't mean I'm right or wrong. :)
