Been awhile so I think its time for an update. Today is day 34 of flower.
I freshened up the controller res like last time. The difference this time is reducing the base nute by 2mls and adding 8mls (1/3 the recommended dose) of PK13/14. I find some that I had feom a vrevious grow and I should have enough for this grow too. Anyway, with the vuds fattening up like crazy, i figured they could use some extra PK. And theyre also showing little nutrient burn so its good to reduce the overall ppm and base nutes. The overall ppm is reduced to 1150.
Ill probably introduce full dose of pk in a week or so
A shot of the canopy then singles of the Bubbleicious then White Widow then amnesia respectively

Hey, I love the setup! I ran a similar idea like the bottom res with coco in a 3 gal bucket inside of a 5 gallon extra res and I had spectacular results like this. Was looking for a good scrog grow to get some tips from. I don't know if I'll be using cocoa again... I want to find some hydroton and go full hydro. Can you post some pics of the outside res and the full system outside of the tent? Looking Healthy! :D

Thanks dude ... will do .... theres a medium made by gold label that mixes hydrocorns with coco supposedly to get the benefits of coco added .... would love to try coco and would love to even try this medium that my hydrostore carrie .... but for the time being ill stick to this, to perfect the technique and get everything really dialed in before I venture into this next step

Whats up bro .... as promised, heres a pic of the outside setup.
As you can see a main controller reservoir and a larger one that sits above it. My bluelab Gaurdian ec and pH monitor is connected to the main res., that controls the 3x (could be 4x) water farms in the tent. I keep the main controller res outside the tent to keep the res temp low given it averages around 75 in there lights on and I want my rest temp to be in the low 70s because thats the preferred temp for running a live res (based on the Heisenberg tea thread ;-) )
This system came as a 4x waterfarms all in one box by General Hydroponics Europe GHE called water pack ACS. I just swapped their shorter flexible hoses with longer ones to take the main res outside. And I widened the draining holes in the top bucket so that the roots can grow through them and dip into the bottom reservoir in a DWC fashion. Noticeable surge in growth once the roots hit the bottom res and become dwc ;-)
And some bud porn to start the weekend hah amnesia only half way yhrough flowering ... still 4 weeks to go :-) happy growin bro

Man, I gotta get me a EC/pH meter like that! I know you can get away with a cheap ppm meter and pH drops, but a constant monitor is just so much less work.You're description of the modification you made... :joint: It looks to me that it's just 2 foam buckets... is the inner bucket shorter? It's like an optical illusion or something :bigjoint: moar pix!!! if u can

I think I'm going to take my "tinkering" and invest it into lighting rather than medium... gonna stick with coco and order a bunch of 3 watt LED's today... see what I end up with. I'm still building the setup for this next run, should have it done next week with pics. I need to find a resource on optimum light spectrum... Sorry for the mini hijack lawz

Dude ...... i definitely recommend this EC/pH meter. Its a bit expensive ... alright a lot expensive lol but worth every penny ... ive had it for 2 years and its got my back!
Alright .... as for the hydro system I got and the confusing description ... lol thats my fault bro .... the pic I showed is only of the main (controller) reservoir and its top off resirvior that sits above it ajd both are outside the tent.
The 3 (can be 4 or more) hydro butckets I got in the tent have a short bucket that sits inside the taller (res) bucket. The top bucket is filled with hydroton and the plant grows in it. This top bucket has small holes to drain the nutrients back down and into the lower bucket (see the blue pic). I made thise holes bigger and the roots now dip in the lower bucket like DWC. Those lower buckets are all connected together and to the main controller res outside the tent. The pictures below are of the set up with the diagrams showing how it works. I hope this time around its easier to visualize .....
Investing in lighting is a must if you want to see better results. .. dude i think I agree with you. Coco is an amazing medium to grow in. Id say stick with it for now and get it dialed in and perfected; and upgrade your lighting .... any idea as to how much you want to invest in upgrading? I too just invested in upgrading my lighting from 600w HPS to now 600wHPS + 350w Optic LED CXB3070 COB. So far and only half way through flowering and I can still confirm the investment was worth every penny! Wow the buds are scary hah

Today is day 41 of flowering. I noticed in the past couple of days that the ppm is going down by about 80 or so over 24 h period. Thats the girls consuming more of the PK i added and consuming more in general and maybe in need for more PK because obviously they're accelerating their flowering!
So I decided to introduce a full dose of the PK13/14 for a week or so ( its about 3-4 weeks from harvesting so its time or close enough).
I prepped a 17.5L bottle of half DH water and half tap (with initial ppm of 130) and added recommended dose of Diamond Nectar, B Essentials (micro and submicro elements) and only 10ml calmag+. The ppm now is 300. I then added Flora Nova BLOOM and full dose PK13/14 added to a final ppm of 1180 and pH of 6.0 (thats 250 ppm of PK just in the main res not to include whats added in the topoff res at half dose or a little more). Finally, a full dose of floralicious was added.
17.5 L were then removed from the main res and replaced with the fresh mix.
Half dose floralicious was also added to the topoff res.
Below you can see the canopy after a week ... the single shots are of the bubblicious then White Widow then amnesia! Happy growing ; -)

Impressive yeild! You should post all the canopy shots from the past 8 weeks.... 1 week apart. too lazy to save them so I can view them in order lol

I think i'm just impressed by the lack of screw ups... every time my pH is off the plants seem to stall for 5 days or so... and if I make 3 screw ups then ba-bam I'm behind 2+ weeks.

this being in a soil-less grow and watering about every other day...

Thanks bro ... thats where the constant EC and pH meter check .... the bluelabs Gaurdian i got really help keeping the ppm and ec in check ... i get some fluctuation when i first change the res due to the lack of the buffering capacity of the ro and dehumidifier water I use. They have a version of it that hooks to your house wifi and to your smart phone to notify ya of extreme drifts
And i too had this same problem when I grew in soil ... but it was mainly due to lock ajd salt builtup that caused the pH fluctuation and hard water here plus also the bad quality of soils they used to sell around here. Im much happier with hudro now and its never been so hassle free ... happy growing bro

Thanks bro ... yeah im getting bored and anxious now ... hardly anything to do now other stick my head in the tent and breathe some CO2 on them haha ... i keep telling myself i need to be patiemt with this one and let it go a week later than when I think its ready (me being anxious will make me chop early hah)

So true. It took weeks to for my pH to become stable. I was adjusting twice a day, even, as it was swinging so much. Without keeping an eye on that my plants would have died or simply not done as well as they have.

I still take daily readings, of course, though now if I miss a day or so I can safely estimate where it is and even adjust the pH on the fly, just by knowing how long it's been since I last had to adjust it. I can only do that, now, because I took readings and kept daily records from day one

Just adding my 2c about how important it is to check your girls vitals :)

Hah, Yeah, I understand now... I unzip my tent to do something but there's nothing to do, so I just take a couple of photos. Every time I go spend a few hundred on weed, I think to my girls..."Just a little longer. It'll be a super Xmas in the Chained house this year... Be patient :D"

Today, last day of week 7 (day 49) of flowering.
A little hiccup here. The mechanism to recirculate the nutrients between the 3 reservoirs and the controller res failed last week and I didnt realize. So the girls got nute lock from both pH embalance and ppm spike. This problem was easily fixed yesterday and the res was freshened up yesterday. The new res ppm kept spiking throughout the day telling me the girls were choking on too much and are releasing some back. So I decided to prep another bottle for a fresh res change tomorrow and to flush today for 24 hours. Tomorrow I'll start the res slightly lower in ppm than previously. Ill give the girls a week of fresh res with full nutes dose and very mild KoolBloom dry (to add some PK that I lost in the last week of pk boost due to that hiccup) and let them recover from this problem. I'll decide what to do next in a week or so ... I need to observe them for full recovery! Here are a couple shots for the canopy ;-)
