Yeah, see at first I wondered why you would have the black tubes covered as I didn't know they were the clear tubes. That got me thinking though, that's essentially how certain roof based solar water heating works - a bunch of tubes on the roof getting hot from the sun, heating the water as is passes through. So from there I thought maybe the tubes you can see in my pictures could benefit from being covered just to stop them from absorbing and passing on any heat I can. My res fluctuates between 21 and, say, 23.5 degree Celsius, which is about 69 to 74 Fahrenheit. I might cover them up with something like what you've done, it seems logical :)

What do you think of h2o2 in the reservoir ?

(sorry if this is going off topic in your thread)

If you have black tubes, then covering them to avoid absorbing heat. Every little bit helps. FYI, although mid to high 60s is the preferred res temp (more DO and less pythium overgrowth ), if youre running beneficial microbes (bacteria and fungi) whether using any of the premade products or brewing your own tea, low 70s is better for the beneficial microbes to thrive and combat (and prevent) bad microbes.
I recommend reading the Heisenberg tea thread. Do so even if you plan on going the sterile res route. The amount (and quality) of information is priceless.
I do use the tea and not only to combat or prevent root rot, but actually due to the benefits that tea has on the root health and growth and thus the overall plant health

You can ask any question ya want. I dont care.
If you reach mid 70s then i definitely recommend covering the tubes to reduce heat absorption.
H2O2 is a good product which works for and helps many many growers. However, it is not for me. I prefer the beneficial organisms route. And if I wanted to go the sterile res route, then id hold all sorts of additives and only focus on controling the environment. Controlling the environment is the number 1 step towards preventing or even combating a problem. That is, id keep the res temp in the 60s, light out of the res, organic debris and dirt out of the res and as much aeration as possible. This prevents any problems while avoiding adding chemicals to the res and thus the girls. . If I have an infestation and would want to combat it the sterile route, id probably go with low dose chlorox before trying H2O2 again. If you read the Heisenberg thread, youll learn a lot more about this ;-)

Thanks. Yeah, I will get around to searching for that thread shortly... I'm procrastinating. I really don't want to make ANY changes to what I'm going at this stage, my plants are ok and the buildup is not exactly a problem, it's just something I noticed that is increasing a little bit. That said my nutes are also increasing in PPM each week as per schedule so i'll just keep an eye on it, it might be normal for all i know. I change my res out every week and take the opportunity to clean the pump, exposed tubes etc so that might be enough, I have a pump mixing my water constantly, and churning the surface, as opposed to an airpump/stone setup.

I think maybe taking the heat out of my return tubes might be an idea, I'm going to look at insulating them ...

Lookin good doc
Thanks bro ... love how religious the bubblicious is. Of the 3 strains shes the only one with such prominent 'prayin effect' when she points her leaves towards the light. She grows vigirously too reminding me of a G13 labs Pineapple Express I grew before. Very happy with her so far ;-)

A quick update .... today is the last day of week 4 of veg (or 6 from seed). The girls are growing beautifully and the WW is definitely catching up to the others now that her roots are in the bottom res. Both BB in pic 1 and Am in pic 2 showed sex (anyway they were feminized seeds). The 3rd pic shows them getting fuller for sure.

Today, I put up the diy SCROG screen which i simply built with 3/4" cpvc and 4 elbows for corners and 4 Ts to extend the pipes down for stands.
I raised the ppm to 700 and raised the light a little to spread the light more. Now its just a waiting game:
1Waiting for the screen to fill 75%
2waiting for my Optic CXB3070 360w to arrive in the mail to supplement this 600w HID
Until the next update, happy growing yall

Are they at the screen yet, Dr??
Whats up Chained. Yes they are bro ... I started mildly training the branches on both the BB and Am this morning. You let the branches poke a few inches above the screen then you redirect them to an adjacent square. And just keep doing this until the screen is 3/4 full (in yoir case with the LH id say less than 3/4 full and flip ... LH stretches a lot) ... ill post a pic in a couple of days to show the screen and how the branches are trained better

Looks good, man! Plants look healthy, and growing strong. Awesome to see they've hit the screen, now the fun starts. Good ppm, too, I think because I put mine up around there this week and, holy shit, they're going crazy.

Your screen is going to fill up in no time, I'll be taking notes

Thanks bro ..... yeah, I raised the ppm because I saw signs of deficiencies in the lower leaves, mainly mild interveinal chlorosis plus calcium dif. Anyway, they loved the ppm raise and theyre greener now and growing vigorously too. Some branches grew as much as 2-3 inches since yesterday.
My last scrog was with an elastic scrog screen with (i think) 5" squares. I definitely like the smaller, 2", squares. It seems the screen does most the training for me, so far, especially when comparing it to the old larger one. Ill still use that old elastic screen in this grow. But itll function more like support for the heavy buds than a true scrog screen.
