i've got an old solis tek 600 ballast n the garage. wonder if that would fire it? or does it need the LFSW like the 315?

Nope , doesn't require lfsw . The hortilux gold they're pushing with it is hf or maybe uhf sine. I don't know if they still label the ballast " gold" but they changed the looks of the ballast to match the fixture, it's not gold anymore. Some guy in another thread has one already, it's got the original gold ballast with it.

I'm going to try it on a solis ballast after some use. I bet it will run fine.

I couldn't even find that on growershouse when I looked earlier this week. I think I'mma keep with the QBs. Now that is been 30-40F outside my rooms been low 80s high 70's.

I need to do some room construction after these harvests. Trying to fit all 12 plants in one room. Only issue I'm having is harvesting all 12 plants at once creates a fuck ton of trim work, but the alternative is 2 separate 6 site rdwc but then I'd need another chiller.

    Any logistical input?

I guess I could use the same chiller for both. Have separate pumps with separate control valves interlocked to the chiller tstat. Control valve will open and close as each setup needs cooling. Sounds fucking complex though.

So really. It's a new year and I want some toys. Should I spend 800 on some cobs or cmh? Or maybe 400 each?

    diy some cobs.
    i built 2 240watt 3 cob lights for 140ish each.

then you'll have money left over for some scotch or tequila or both.

A bottle of lephroaig and El jimidor it is haha. I was pricing out some 1818. It's a 5x5 room though. I dunno if I can afford like 18 chips and 4 drivers etc... Swmbo very angry.

treated myself to a laphroaig 15 and a lagavulin 16 for xmas. lol.

2 315s in a 5x5 would be pretty good i'd think. 2.5x2.5 for each is excellent.

That's sort of where I was leaning but I'll ponder a while more. Then supplement my 600 hps near the end. I've been into this new stuff around here. Kilchoman. It's a blonde islay similar in camp fieryness to laphroaig. Delicious stuff. Again swmbo angry lol.

Any of yall put hands on those cheapy vivosun cmh fixtures? I'm curious about footprint. If I wanted 2 over a 5x5 I'll be on the same conundrum as know where I have the 1k and the 600 hung and neither really lets me fill the footprint right. What I'd love is a reflector I could get a 3x5 footprint at like 24" to 30"

Have not heard of the brand.
Bought a couple far red initiaters designed by growmau5 and rapid. Turns out I may have to add some photo red to be effective.

wtf is up with this far red? i've read about it , kinda understand it. you use it right at the end of lights on to help put the plant to "sleep" faster?

with these 3000K cobs i have, i'm gonna try some t5 super actinics . i overlapped the chlorophyll A &B charts, and this should get me really close to spot on

yep, that too. . but with the far red, someone was mentinoning too much would cause sas, shade avoidance symptom? i thought that was made up but i looked and it's a real issue for plants

not positive, but the guy made it seem like even 15 to 30 mins too long "could" be a problem.

i'm on the bandwagon of trying to get as close to sunlight as you can, whatever that takes and whatever spectrums it involves

Just emailed rapid, think I'll cancel that order and order a kit with both far red and photo red.
Closest to the sun eh? I think I just ordered the combo that will do that. ceramic hps with addition of blue mh,
I was thinking I'll probably run a 4k kelvin de beside the chps but now I may run the blue nest to the chps, I have a lot of options and will probably give them all a spin for the fuck of it.

Got all the parts slapped together for a rough mock up. She's only leaking in the right spots so all is well I think. Only issue I forsee is needing a larger cintrol tote. Those seals landed right on a ridge on the side. May need to go bigger to fit the uniseal on flat plastic or alternatively put in a collector and spin the tote 90°

Edit: confirmed. Is leaking pretty well there. I have silicone but would rather do above fix if need be
