Can you brief me on this? Where could I find this? Very difficult to find good shatter, wax etc Was actually gifted what looked like 3 grams or so from a what I can call a friend, very good guy and has tons of knowledge in the cannabis industry , but busy at the moment. Anyway, his product is nice. I am fairly new into the whole concentrate thing but when I picked up some shatter today it brought on a very bad cough as for the gifted hash, it was soooo smooth and was not harsh, hell I didnt even cough for even rippin a huge dab.

Twitch, do you actually grow for patients?

Kandy Kush shatter, tastes like a lemon cream lolipop. Sativa buzz.

Kandy Kush shatter, winterized. Tastes like lemon drops, lacks the cream flavor of the non winterized.

And last but not least, reclaim from cleaning my rig after about a year. ;) room temp shatter reclaim. Just tastes like co2 oil, no flavor excepting the hashy one.

Can you explain to me what winterizing means?

Snaps, those flowers look amazing as do the shatter pictures....but as they say, pictures don't do them justice!

I like how you described the kandy kush both winterized and non. SLH is my favorite sativa...just using that as example....LEMON!

Winterizing is a second stage dewaxing process where one dissolves their non polar extraction (bho) in a more polar solvent (etoh),freeze to precipitate the undesirable waxes that only serve to inflame your lungs, cold filter (buchner/erlenmeyer/vacuum pump/whatman #1), evap ethanol....

So, in the end winterized is better for the lungs. Is that why when I do a dab it kinda takes my breath away and a very harsh kinda burning sensation around the center of the clavicle down the sternum.

Has a lot to do with the temperature of the original extraction. Colder columns / solvent will extract significantly reduced undesirable content thus avoiding the need to perform a second step to dewax.

Dabbing on too hot of a nail can also piss off your lungs. I suspect many breakdown products / free radicals. A cooler flavor bomb nail is where I like to be.

I heat a titanium nail until she's glowing really good to burn it clean of residuals, I then allow it to cool for 20 - 25 seconds before dabbing. If dabbed too soon, the flavor is destroyed and the unpleasant aftertaste lingers for a long time ime.

Ok, so there is where my mistake lies. I burn the nail until it is glowing orange then I almost immediately hit it within 5 seconds. I am a rookie hehe

Just don't freeze the jar or seal it until the residual butane stops fizzing off. Room temp etoh addition after finishing the hot water bath purge.

So Your saying, if you winterize a run, there's no need for vac purging?

I just figured it'd be easier to purge the alcohol that way
