The cheapest grow ever?

Got some soil outdoors? cover it with straw, woodchips, autumn leaves or whatever organic mulch you have around,
What about sphagnum peat moss? I still have some left from last year. No shortage of leaves here, that 60+ FT maple tree at the back of my yard has been very very generous, LOL. I know a few farmers that should have some organic material. One of them even grew hemp a few years back but found the gov too bogged down with silly unrealistic rules.

This is my first grow and I'm on a low budget, my plants have been growing for about 10 days now and everything looks great minus first leaves are a bit rounded and look like they were burnt but when they initially sprouted they looked like they had orange hairs on it, but other than that I still need a few things that I'll have to get over the next few weeks like nutrients, better soil, another fan and maybe a better grow box since mine is falling apart from the humidity. Is there anything else I can do to help my plant grow better? Or ideas for my upgraded grow box? I'll send pictures of current setup

Hi Fitz, welcome to the RIU forum. I am only on my first grow as well. One thing I keep reading is that seedlings do not need nutes, so I would hold off on that a little bit. My plants had water only in the vegetative stage and they worked out half decent, as in there will be a yield of some product. Your grow area is already beyond mine so the only advice I can offer there would just be MacGyvering something. You will get better advice from others in that area.

Thanks ANC. I might as well use it up. They sell it in giant ass blocks and there was just too much for my small back yard when I re-mediated the soil last year.

So as I approach day 60 I really only see clear/cloudy trichs, no amber yet, my previous post citing amber was a false positive. Now one of the plants is showing a lot of curling in on the flowers so I am going to harvest that one first. The buds are so big for the scrawny little branches that it is starting to look like a weeping willow. I have tried to use the fan leaves to help keep them up and exposed to the light. I cut a bud from that plant 3 days ago and it is still drying, but it smells very nice.

Hey Zoic, nice to see you posting some garden pics, looking good :) I'd wait a bit longer on that day 60 plant you mentioned above, the tester still has several white hairs that should mature up (turn brown/curl) before it's fully ripe.

I tend to agree, there are still a lot of white hairs on that bud. Many of the other buds on that plant have a lot of brown hairs and small leaves that are curling in.I feel I should chop one earlier to get practice on the hanging and drying. I fully expect to go 70-75 days on the rest. Just playing it by ear for now, day by day. Thanks for having a look and the useful info I need to move forward. :-D.

Hey nsky, thanks for all the kind words. I look forward to seeing your grow journal someday. Were it not for all the awesome help and great advice in this forum, I doubt I would have made it this far since I was unable to do so in all previous attempts. It is so much easier to grow with experts so ready to jump in and give good advice.

On a side note, I was sure when you first posted beginning of May your profile showed you as 53. Now it shows you are 54, which begs to ask, did you have a birthday recently, or is my old brain playing memory tricks on me, LOL.
Lolol...nice old "54". Since March 7th. :D

I've got a 35 day old mystery plant that im practicing on (topping, defoliating, lst, etc) and a couple pure power plant seedlings, five days old. I keep switching up my set up so haven't posted a grow journal. I think it would be confusing. I'm half assing my way through, but paying attention and fussing around in the right ways. I'll post a photo on this thread for you if you want to see them. So cool to follow your grow thank you zoic. :) Big inspiration to me.

Training, I broke a stem, taped it, and mystery plant recovered 24 hours. Amazing. Two little seedings are le fancy seeds. I'm growing in a converted Victorian radio cabinet i built. Im switching to a tent to flower. Too much obsession messing with everything in this cabinet!

Very cool. I plan on trying some lst next time I get a stretching string bean. I have seen some really awesome lst grow pics on here with towers of buds sticking up.

That happened to me too, it is the short on in my flower closet, last pic. Started flowering a week later than the rest but it doing very well.
Yay! Lol....I'll check that photo out ty zoic! I'm adjusting the light seems like everyday. Rn there are four 23 watt, one 42 watt, (unfortunately all 2300k) on the mystery plant, and two 15 watt each, super flippin bright leds, ge bright siks on the seedlings. The shade is the silver inside from a coffee container. Cheapo indeeddd. Lol!

PICNIC error:
Problem In Camerman, Not In Camera.
I do not understand this, but I will add cameras to my list of my inept use of technology, right up there with TV/VCR remotes. How is it I can replace a motherboard in an hour, and I am talking LAPTOP here. Building, fixing, installing software is all easy peasy for me, but hand me a remote and watch closely as I end up in a Russian menu in the first 3 clicks.
This is so damn frustrating, so here are some pics and I will get my wife to finish the photo shoot later. There are actually 5 plants in flower, but one pic was so dark it was not worth posting. Day 50 in flower now.
Hilarious!! Picking out motherboards for the computers I build is a major joy for me. Lol!!

I rolled a joint this AM using about 1/2 of this little bud. I am very happy to report I am pleasantly high, not a common outcome from my first joint of the day. I think the wife is going to be very impressed and happy. So clean tasting, WOW. (:

Well I went up to water last night and the middle plant, which has been leaning for about a week was leaning on the wall. When I tried to move the pot it got caught on the next plant and bent over in the middle. I tried to tape it to keep it going for a little longer, but in the process that top part bent in half as well. I decided to cut the top half and hang it to dry. One down, four to go, LOL. It sure is nice after all that time to find out I have some kick ass bud, THAT I GREW MYSELF.
