I had the good fortune to come across TGA Subcool's re-released, limited edition SpaceDawg ( http://tgagenetics.com/strain2.php?id=24 ). SpaceDawg is a 25/75 indica dominant hybrid that crosses Super Snowdawg (Bubble Chem x Super Skunk X Oregon Sno) with Space Queen (Romulan x C-99). Our patients request more indica dominant strains and I fucking love TGA's Space Queen influence so I popped all 5 beans on 04/09 to look for some killer keeper phenos... Word.

This Test Pheno Run: 1 gallon hard pots, Sunshine Mix4 soil, BotaniCare Nutrients at 75% strength, fluorescent and 1000W lightning.

So this is my last time using my old method of germination, soaking for 24-36 hours in a shot glass of mineral water until they crack and then putting the seeds in soil cups. SUCCESS! We got 5 for 5 which is standard for us with TGA :-)

and put them into soil. Once they surfaced and sprouted some leaves, we tagged them with #'s 1 through 5, 1 being strongest and 5 being slowest growing at this very early stage. *From now on we will be using Subcool's Rapid Rooter and Shoebox method for germination.

We kept our 5 phenos in 18 oz soil cups for about 3 weeks under 18-hour fluorescent lighting before transplanting to 1 gallon pots and moving to 18-hour MH lightning at about week 4. At week 7 we topped all 5 and will veg for 1 more week before flipping to 12/12 under our HPS lighting.

All 5 phenos look absolutely amazing, ranging in size from 6"-9" with vibrant green colors and perfect branching every 1/2" - 1". The stems are really thick and should support substantial weight without issue. The leaves are all 7 and 9 fingered with each plant having 10-12 solid heads after topping. I will reduce these down to 4-6 tops before flower since we will be running these in 1 gallon pots throughout and I want to direct the energy accordingly.

I have never seen anybody do the things that you can do in a 1 gallon!

Your plants are in a 1 gallon container indoors and their as big as mine in 5 gallons outdoors your the shit hovering.

Thanks man. I learned to grow in a small closet in Colorado and I use those same skills in my big ass indoor medical grow now :-)

there is a lot to be said with the lessons learned in limited space situations.....i started in a 2 x 2 closet....led me to bonzai, and serious canopy control, then main-lining, extremely valuable lessons aplicable to many different situations.......problem solving is a serious geek for me....

I use nutes from the start since Mix4 doesn't give the plants anything. So far these have had a light BotaniCare rooting mix from jump into 18 oz cups of soil, then BotaniCare veg stage #2 once in 1 gallon pots. I am extremely careful not to overwater throughout. I use the full BotaniCare line at 75% strength due to some nute lock issues I continue to deal with in bloom. I'll be switching to SuperSoil some day but just can't do that without a lot of planning for the patients that rely on the meds we grow. Will do a side by side comparison of SS vs. BC when we make the switch to make sure we maintain quality. I am certain we will maintain if not increase quality with the move to SS but will journal it anyway.

Currently doing side-by-sides using Mykos (and not) to see if we want to add that to our game. Always learning, always testing...

Okay, good info. Ive just had mixed results starting nutes early, but Im running another line.

I am also going to be making the switch to super soil. Also going to be mixing my own base mix instead of buying any soiless mixes.
I would like to see the results on that Mykos, as I am currently shopping around for I would like to add to my soil for bacteria.
Mykos isnt my top pick atm, but things could change based on some results.

Ive been playing with hydro, but I think I am done with that road. Its just not the style I like.

Will also be running a side by side of Earth Juice, and General Organics in the future.

Yeah, that was my initial thought. I currently run nute free until about 2 weeks into cups, sometimes a bit later.

early supplementation certainly makes sense in an empty mix....you just have to have a real grasp on exactly what the plant is asking for on an almost daily basis....and hov's got it down....pretty impressive.....talk about listening to you plants!......

Hey Hov, I was wandering why the germination method change when you are having such good results with your old method? Im just curious, thats all.. thanks buddy.......

I believe starting in Rapid Rooters will give the plant a more solid rooting foundation for it's first transplant into soil. It will eliminate the potential for trouble in handling the seed between sprouting and sticking into dirt, when the tap root is exposed and transplanting involves my "dirty" hands. Less steps for less stress imo.

We will see how it goes...

I feed em early too. I don't wanna wait and see yellowing from the beginning. Although I use FFOF instead of coco mixes and everything I hear from people who state how "hot" it is, I myself from experience know that it's 100% safe to plant seedlings and clones directly in it, as well as feed them at 1/4 strength the first week.

Hovering I really have high hopes for this thread. I haven't seen a Space Dawg online that looks as big and as nice as mine as of yet. I believe if anyone has the potential to beat me and show a nicer looking Dawg it's you.
Here's mine, I run this cut on the regular. Its a Space Dawg from seed that I acquired from the original Space Dawg beans Sub gave away a few years ago.

Not the best quality photo, but I got 3 ounces off this one with a 14 day veg in a 1.5gallon container-

I have high hopes for what you can do with these genes. Can't wait to see your finale!
