this is a long shot, But wondering if anyone who is/was associated with TX, remembers a strain.
There was a strain that dominated the region during the turn of the century. we called it it Berkeley; it was like nothing we had ever seen, in the metroplex. That's saying a lot, as we had been running SSSC, TSB/SSB stock for years, before the berk hit town. Never seen anything like it since, either.
I was told it came from Cali, dude who brought it to NorthTX region was an ex-professor at UC Berkeley. Although i was balls-deep in the cannabis community (it wasn't called "the cannabis industry" until many years later), i was never able to discern who exactly in the hood was pumping out the Berk flowers. In 20+ years in this business, it's been the only strain someone else was running, that i ever felt was any real competition..
My best educated guess is Berk was (M10 x sk#1).. Nothing nowadays looks like it.. If i scroll through a major seed brokers catalogue (attitude, discreet, etc), nothing is similar, not even close.

The commercial runs of it (circa 2001) had seeds in it. Its where i got my beans and how i was able to bred it out. I rounded out a few hybrids (ie: Af#6) and others made hybrids with my cleaned-up Berk line over the years. ( afghan sharkk, etc..)
i still have my cleaned-up line, some hybrids and half-worked stuff, and some original beans left, but seeing this TX post, i was like, i wonder who else has stock left...
So does ANYONE remember the Berk? If u smoked it, and u grew @ the time, then u for sure saved seeds. It was that good. So, like, does anyone still have any beans left?

Hi yall, so I got on this site cause I thought it was about what nature gave us, getting help from folks that made their mistakes long ago who are willing to pass on the wisdom. I’m on the other side of the Atlantic sea, all my family and friends are in TX, I can’t step foot in my beloved state and when I get on a chat site specifically for my folks what do I read? Should I bother asking for help? I’m in a country where most dudes don’t get up of their seats for a woman, a place where respect was lost long ago. Texas did and can still have its independence if need be. Texas needs nothing from anyone because we’re the best. I really hope yall can put aside differences, the rest of the world don’t think much of us, they say and I quote “ you people have too many guns “

Moving on, I’ve gone from soil indoors to hydro, had a massive baby but had to leave town so I let someone baby sit. The dumbass didn’t know the difference between a drop and a squirt. Of PH down!!!!!!!!!! Needless to say she died. So I’m in coco coir outdoors, 10% hydroton. Canna nutes all the way. She’s at her 5th set just barely poking out but she’s taking her sweet time. I mean she’s growing really slow. She looks healthy, there are no bugs, no holes, no discolouration, she’s in a 10 gallon pot, but the only noticeable growth I can see is her stem getting thicker, and side shoots at the nodes. Night temperature is just under desirable, that’s the only thing I can come up with as a problem. Can anyone give me a helpin hand please. I’ll post a pick now

Lol. I’ve been around the world twice, literally, and only now do I realise why other countries think we’re shit. This a site about horticulture and hydrocolture but yall are set on talking shit. I’d say it was great talking to yall, but it’s been an absolute waste of time. You people must be growing for profit only, cause anyone growing for the nature of it wouldn’t be such a dick.
Take care of yourselfs, you wouldn’t want to end up in Huntsville with that attitude, your mouth would only be good for one thing. Lol
