Hit the nail with reclaim after it starts to glow, let it smoke off....then cool, repeat steps 2-3 more times....don't overheat the nail or you will remove the season, sometimes I say fuck it cant wait.....I try to heat it right to the point of it starting to glow when I vape, to keep the base seasoning...it's tuff though dabs......especially if you smoke like us full time oiler.....

Haha...

This is too funny Chewy.

That's exactly what I'm doing, heating til red, then globbing claim on the nail.

And, I knows EXACTLY what you are speaking of..

I usually point the torch's flame up at an angle at the shaft and the walls, trying to leave the cup coated in the black residue...

You SURE, we don't know each other??...haha

^ Yep, just need a scoop type dabber, but if the nail head is too small, I've missed plenty of times..lol
This why I upgraded my nail.

So far it still doesn't look right, but it's beginning to take color.

I think it's just sooooo fuckin thick, it's the same diameter of a bic lighter...I might have to get on the propane train, or I'd be spending my, paychecks filing my torch, lol

Let me just say propane is stinky...I moved from it cause its just a nasty aroma in the room afterwards an it's loud as fuck.... I heard Mapp gas is the better option if your looking for power... But I go through probably a can a month of vector that's probably about 30 grams of hash worth...

Creme brulee torch at BB& B looks like she puts out quite the flame, and only 40$ ish..

Have any of y'all tried the Nitro vs. the creme brulee torch?

Propane is virtually odorless; it is the added ethyl mercaptans that ya'll are smelling. They are added for leak detection and smell like rotten eggs down to 2.4 parts per billionth!

So, I JUST got a huge, thick Ti nail.

I had a question regarding seasoning.

What's the most efficient means of seasoning this BIG ass nail.

It's super thick, also.

I'm thinking my little pencil torch isn't going to” cut it” with this nail.
Do I need to upgrade my torch, having such a gigantic nail?

Tried vaping after heating/cooling once, and then I waited for it to cool, put a glob of reclaim in the nail cold and burnt off the claim.
Still the oil didn't vape correctly.

Should I just heat and til red then hit the nail with reclaim?

Never dealt with a nail of this mass.

I use a plumbers propane torch. You need to put out some heat for something that heavy.

That one looks like it was made by the investment casting process, as opposed to CNC machining billets.

I thought that was going to be the case, I knew as I was buying..

” probably going to have to pick up a” real torch” for this nail..haha

Had a strong intuition my little butane pencil flame wouldn't be sufficient.

FD..
I seek your wisdom once again..
What is the difference between investment casting process vs. CNC machining billets?

Thanks in advance.

To make an investment casting, they first make a wax pattern of the end product and "invest it", by coating it with a ceramic shell. The wax is then melted out of the ceramic shell and the cavity is filled with molten metal, so as to reproduce the wax pattern in metal.

CNC machining is simpy a computer controlled machine, probably a lathe in this case, which machines the piece out of a solid bar.

YOU MUST SPREAD SOME REPUTATION AROUND BEFORE GIVING IT TO FD AGAIN

Good morning my friend, thank you for the detailed response.

It certainly has properties that are not typical of the common nail, and I'm not able to decipher exactly what the difference is, it does not seem to be ” taking” the season, but I haven't bought the plumbers torch yet, I'm sure that'll do the trick.
