T5 ho vs mh

Hey guys question. I'm running two tents 2x4x84 and 4x4x84. The 2x4 is my veg. Running 400 mh the 4x4 600 hps flower. My question is power bills soaring. Thinking about t5 ho 4 ft 6 bulb for veg tent to cut down the power. I figure not only the light but the fan for the hood and ballist being removed would help power bill. But I don't want to loose the quality I am getting. What do you guys think.

Using a T-5 instead of MH for flowering shouldnt effect quality, but your plants may grow slower. I cant imagine you wan't your plants vegging for 2 1/2 months while your flower room is occupied anyways as it would end up with massive plants (but I could be wrong I don't know your situation), so using a smaller light for vegging shouldn't be an issue.

But then again I might be completely wrong, and as far as I know 400w of T-5 would be equal on your power bill as 400w MH (But that last part is the information I'm least confident in passing on).

I use a T-5 and CFL's for vegging and flowering, i have no complaints whatsoever, but I also havent had an opportunity to use HID lighting so I can't say for sure

Thanks. I just wanted to see how other people did with the t5. I've got my clones under 400 mh there in week 1 after transplanting. I just went into day 1 of week 3 in the flower room. Under 600 hps. Running g13 pineapple. Power bill spiked up 250 over normal. Lol. image.jpgimage.jpg image.jpg image.jpg

Dang your setup looks great man, are you worried about power bill out of affordability or because you want to stay under the radar? If you don't mind me asking (:

If its for affordability, your setup is beautiful and you could surely drop some product to pay the bills?

$250 increase in your bill from a 400 watter??? that don't sound right! i use 1000 watts, and my bill increases maybe $70 a month. that's including the other stuff, fans/filter etc.

Fair enough man, have you considered adding something to your house that looks like it uses a lot of electricity to use as a distraction?

Sorry if that sounds incredibly stupid, it might just be one of those stoned thoughts lol

2 rooms running 400 & 600 plus all the fans ect plus two ac units in each maybe it was a fluke but 250 over the last month one room running 18/6 and 12/12

thanks been using the t5 for my clones and seedlings until they get a good root system. then to the 400mh maybe the power bill was a fluke this month. lol

AC is the expensive toy here....! ..lol but a 400w Mh and a small fan is sucking half a kilowatt or 12 cents per hour in most states depending on your Kw per hour rates..best to look them up, but that said most 4 foot 54 watt T5's and at 6 per bank thats running 6x 54w = 324 watts per hour not much in it really but do avoid the 2 foot T5's as they don't have that
much grunt, but are ideal for early germing and early veg
