so i went to home depot yesterday, to get some t-5s or atleast price them. and when i got there all they had were t-8s and t-12s. is there a difference, or they just newer better models of the same type of light? cause if they will do the same thing, then t-8s were lookin good bein that they supposedly give more light and take less power to run.

The hardware stores will carry T5 bulbs and maybe 2 foot single under counter t5 lights Not actual T5 setups. The t5s gave more light then T8 or T12.The smaller the number the smaller the light tube but better output and even less heat.T-5s are still pretty costly. About $50 for a single tube light

thats why i was wonderin, everyone said t-8s were more cost efficient. but if t-5s are the way to go, then thats the way to go.

If you already own the t-8's you can buy bulbs that will veg those plants just fine. Menards carries a few different brands. From $5 to $13 for four foot bulbs. I'm still using them until I can purchase the rest of the t-5's i need. If you don't already own them and if you are in it for the long haul, buy the t-5's. VV

Lowes now has the T5s in dual 4 footers.....special order item...29.95 each.T8 puts out slightly less light.. the dual 3 footer 30 watt bulbs I have are 2000 lumen each and I think the T5s are 2300 lumens each...I veg under (4) 2foot T5s and these things work great and half as cool as CFL.

When did you see those at lowes since the cheapest 4 foot T5s I can find anywhere in the world is $38 per single tube setup without bulbs. Most places a 4 tube t5 setup with 4 foot bulbs are $289-498.If they are T5 im gonna go tomarrow and ask but that the same price as T8 2 bulb setups

There are two different T-5 lamps used in light fixtures, standard T-5's and T-5 HO (high output). The T-5 HO is what I am certain they are using in the grow fixtures puts out about 5000 lumens for a 4 foot lamp. The standard T-5 4 footer is about 3000 lumens.

Try looking at sunblasters.com, they sell the T5 HO in 2' and 4' it comes with the light and the ballest and can be daisy chained together to reduce the amount of wires. They also come with all the mounting stuff you need. They work great
