Sweet Seeds Tropicanna Poison F1 fast version

Hello! This is my first time logging a grow. I’ve been dabbling on and off for several years, but this time I’m simplifying things, applying new knowledge such as VPD, and better equipment,
Including:

•3x3x6(I think?) AC infinity tent
•Spider Farmer Dimmable LED (I forget the exact wattage, but it’s more than enough power for the space, around 500 I think)
•Cloudline T6 (the humidity/temp/VPD sensor combined with programmable settings makes this fan more than just a fan)
•ACinfinity 8” HEPA box (with a reduction to fit 6”)
•Reptile terrarium humidifier

The fan is set to speed 1 when the VPD is at .7 or higher.
Below 0.7 it speeds up to 4, which moves a decent amount of air with almost no noise at all. The seed sprouted last Tuesday, and has already been transplanted from its 12 oz cup. I wish I had a camera ready, because the roots were insane. The bottom half of the cup was already filled with roots, and if it had gone any longer would have risked overcrowding.IMG_1018.jpegIMG_1079.jpegIMG_1093.jpeg
After the last picture, which was taken last night, it got a topping and transplanting… I’m not sure that even slowed down its growth rate. This next picture I took about a minute ago

Never before have I seen the cotyledons themselves grow with the rest of the plant. I always assumed they were meant to die off, getting used for their nutrients or whatever. I believe the health of this seedling can be attributed to the carefully controlled humidity. It’s the only thing I’ve done differently from other grows, other than having them outside (which caused the humidity issues)

In case you are wondering, the soil used is Happy Frog, and in the bigger pot, it’s now mixed with some PRIDELANDS VEG, a smidgeon of Flower Girl by DR. EARTH, a generous amount of Azospirillum brasilense and Rhizophagus intraradices (both from Xtreme Gardening), and a pinch of kelp meal and BSFL frass.
I don’t plan on using liquid ferts, although I may use a ridiculously weak solution of some carbohydrates (pasta water, anyone?) with MAYBE a >drop< of organic nutes, only if I feel like the soil could use it.

here’s to learning and growing together :bigjoint:

The lateral nodes have responded to topping (FIM)
Can someone give their opinion here? To me it appears the plant wasn’t quite ready for the amount of nitrogen in the amended happy frog. To be fair, I didn’t really measure, i just eyeballed 2 tablespoons. Next time I’ll measure properly, and use half dose. It doesn’t look too stressed. But I want to know if anyone else thinks it looks like slight clawing from a possible overabundance of nitrogen

Hi,

I think your plants looks a little overwatered since their is small algea on your picture. What is your nutrient schedule? Generally speaking, plants really don't need a lot of nutrients at this age. The cotyledons will turn yellow first if the plant has not enough nitrogen and in my experience it is better to act if its underfertilized than overfertilized.

everything I used is noted in my original post. It’s just happy frog with some natures pride, and yeah, I used a bit too much. I only water when the pot is light, so it was probably just the excess nutrients and high humidity. I noticed it too, and just decided to ignore it.
i appreciate the input, though! I just realized this is the thread I made first, then I made one in grow journals after noticing I posted in the wrong place.

I just repotted today, and flipped the light schedule. I don’t have time to fill the space, since I will be moving soon. Here’s a picture of the roots. I had a feeling she was getting crowded in there! I’ll be making some STS to use on the cutting tonight. Fingers crossed, I’ve never done this before
