Sustainable Trellis

Greetings. My grow is modeled around permaculture organics with eco friendly lighting and climate control. I try to keep my carbon footprint as low as possible while reducing waste as much as possible.

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to viable alternatives to the disposable plastic trellis netting that is so abundant in this industry. I’ve seen some of the lace ones, but I’m not convinced they work all that well. I was toying with the idea of screwing into the PVC frame that makes up the trellis frame, and using hemp rope to form the grid. Seems like a lot of work though. Anyone have any recommendations?

i have a wooden frame with string and one of my plants got cut up by it as it was expanding in flower. I’m ditching string and plastic and I’m going to use cattle panels sold at my local ranch store with squares spaced perfect for my liking. Will need bolt cutters to cut part of the panel into a 4x4.

I used wire fencing with 4" squares. It's strong, environmentally stable and indefinitely reusable.

Make a trellis out of thinish hazel switches. You can tie them with hemp rope or you can weave them. Works a treat. No waste, no plastic

Another here who makes a decent LIGHT wooden frame and simply ties a grid from string. Hang it but be prepared to tie it down when the plants start stretching. I prefer hanging at first rather than tying to the frame. It’s easier to work with for me. Hemp twine sounds perfect. Bamboo frames would work too.

Just dont use a trellis at all if you are that minimalist. I never use any kind of support for my plants. They have lignified stems for that.

PS, what they heck is an eco friendly light? How about using the sun...

I use wood and hemp string with a few nails or screws... I re-net it after use.

Never have 8 bought any premade ones...
