Super Soil Total Cost Calculated

So if your adding worm casting, bone meal, blood meal, fish emulsion...ect do you still feed nutes?
no, you do not.
Look at it as somewhat of a trade off. You are spending the money up front with the supersoil so you don't need as much other ferts/nutes because they are already in the soil mixture. When I amend my soil mixture I put the amended (supersoil) in the bottom half of the container and fill in the top half with plain FF Ocean Forest, Roots Organics or whatever I have used for the amended batch. The amended soil mixture is potent stuff and too much of a good thing can cause problems so be careful using your amended mixture. No ferts/nutes are needed, and if you use additional start off very lightly.

has anyone seen or used the super soil on ebay? it sounds really legit? all i have to say us u use 150-200$ per run on nutrients, with supersoil i save 150-200 every go and can go 4 times for a single half batch, it saved my wallet.

Prob super burn if not careful.
Yes, super burn is right! I usually dump my used supersoil around my bushes, this year I dump some on my hostas before they grew out of the ground and they burned. I like amended soil mixtures but you have to be careful with it.

Happy frog is not even remotely similar to Roots, not even close. Nutrient profile is way off, water retention, aeration, just all waaay off.
its different but he did add perlite. and happy frog really is a good soil. i used 2 bags happy with 2 bags bio bizz light with 6 bags roots for my newest s.s batch. and really any premium potting soil works just fine for s.s

Yeah, it is good soil but it doesn't have coco coir which IMO is the biggest issue. There is quite a bit more nutrient load in the Happy Frog also, which is my other concern.

So you mix brands for your base, I never thought of doing that. I stick with one brand and some Pro-Mix 4 (?) for each batch. I have made batches using a different brand of base each time, FoxFarm OF, Roots Organic etc. I've never made a full batch using 8 bags of base because I have a difficult time combining and mixing the small batches, and an 8 bag batch would probably last me a year or two. One of these days I'll get that 55 gallon empty drum and convert it into a mixer, then I will make the full batch.

I can't find the biobizz light mix either. Instead I've tried using light warrior instead on my first half mix and on the second half mix I did I threw in a a bag of coco. 20%coco-80%roots soil. I did 20 plants with each half batch, so I'm guessing a full batch will yield enouph to do about 40-45 plants in 7 gallon pots. Remember the mix is good for one year, but the older it gets the more of it is needed per pot, because it gets weaker over time...

FYI ----> you did not include the cost of additional bags of soil for top dressing. Thats an additional 8-10 bags of Roots Organic. At the prices estimated by Marlboro47 (16$ a bag), your overhead is a bit high. Although could be worth it if canibus sells for a lot in your area.....

So at what stage do you suggest transplanting into the super soil? I know you only fill the pot half full, but do you do this right before flowering or do you veg in it for a couple of weeks?

how many cu.ft. of dirt are in each bag of promix for super soil!? 8 bags sounds like a lot, I have a similar recipe, half the strength in nutrient but I used about 6 cu.ft of promix... my bags were 3.8 cu.ft! thanks

You can do it before flowering so the plants get used to the soil, I have 5 plants that just started flowering & they will be transplanted next week into 7 gal containers filled with roots & SS

I like to wait until I can sex the plant before transplanting. That way you don't waste any SS on a male you don't plan to keep.
