I envy you guys,
I have played for roughly 30 years.
Self taught then as an adult took lessons for music theory.
Absolutely love music.

The problem is debilitating stage fright.
I still play pretty much daily but have given up the fantasy that I will
Ever entertain.

I was lucky to find fighting and was able to experience entertaining and hearing a crowd that way so Im content.

But secretly I want to be you.
Funny you should say that. I tell every pro musician I know that they should all busk at least a little. There's a big difference playing in front of people where you're paid to do so, and playing somewhere no one asked you to. I've taken some great players busking that were a total jumble of nerves at first, only to find themselves very comfortable a few hours later. The noise and constant distractions are overwhelming at first, but once you learn to play in the street, performing at gigs is a piece of cake. Nothing gets to you anymore. You just have to start small: perform for a few friends and family first (they all tell you how great you are anyway, even if you suck), then slowly branch out to a small crowds of strangers. You overcome your fear by doing, like anything else. Don't give up, dude, it can be quite cathartic and liberating. And with you being a trained fighter, you can always kill the people that think you suck. The rest of the crowd will fall into line and give you plenty of $ ;)

One of my fondest memories (kinda). Ice fishing on lake of the woods for a week with dad, grandpa, and cousin.
Whoever was catching fish got their corner of the icehouse peed on.
Walked in one morning and a 2ft long surgeon just chilling in 3" of water on top of ice. Went down hole when we opened door.
Long days in small icehouse will bring you close or drive you apart...We got closer that trip.
