    Vegan Banana Fosters Cake
View attachment 2655080 View attachment 2655086
So i made 5 of these for mothers day, it was great, wonderful but because I was making so many I didnt have time to do step by step instructions as per normal but the recipe is quite simple
*good news buddah this is a cannafriendly recipe*

    Banana Cake
    2-1/2 Cups All-Purpose Flour
    2 Teaspoons Baking Powder
    2 Teaspoons Baking Soda
    1/2 Teaspoon Salt
2/3 Cup Plain Soymilk [use rice, almond, or hemp milk for a soy-free option, I personally used unsweetened Almond Milk]
    1 Teaspoon Apple Cider Vinegar
1/2 Cup Earth Balance (this is where you would add cannabudder)
    3/4 Cup Granulated Sugar
    1/2 Cup Dark Brown Sugar
    5 Ripe, Medium-Sized Bananas
    1 Tablespoon Vanilla Extract
    6 Tablespoons Rum

    Caramel Frosting

1 Cup Earth Balance (this can also be cannabudder)
    3-1/2 Cups Confectioner's Sugar
    1/3 Cup Brown Sugar
    1-1/2 Teaspoons Water
    1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract

    Sauteed Bananas
1 Firm, Large Banana, sliced into ¼ inch rounds
    2 Tablespoons Brown Sugar
    1 Tablespoon Water

Preheat your oven to 350ºF (175ºC) and lightly grease and flour two 8 inch round cake pans (I used 9 x13). In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt, and set aside. In a separate small bowl, combine the soymilk and vinegar, also moving this to the side. In your stand mixer, cream together the margarine and both sugars until light and fluffy (about 3 mins). Mash the bananas well and mix them in, along with the vanilla. Add the flour mixture, alternately with your now curdled soymilk, into your mixer. Ensure that everything is fully combined before equally dividing the batter between your two prepared pans.

Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the center of each layer comes out clean . Remove from the oven, and while they are still warm, poke the cake tops numerous times with your testing toothpick. In a small bowl pour your rum , use a basting brush to generously coat the cake

For the frosting, cream the margarine well and incorporate the confectioner's sugar slowly. Microwave the brown sugar together with the water for approximately 30 to 60 seconds, just until the sugar dissolves and it begins to bubble a bit. Let the brown sugar stand for a few minutes to cool off, then pour it into the margarine mixture. With the mixer on high, beat the frosting vigorously until all of the ingredients are fully incorporated. Stir in the vanilla, and frost the cake as desired.

For the banana garnish, combine the brown sugar and water in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Cook until the sugar dissolves. Add the banana, and stir to coat all of the pieces well. Cook for about 2 minutes, until the sugar bubbles and darkens into a golden caramel, stirring gently every so often. Spoon mixture over cut cake before serving

    The pot diet

Never mind the munchies, study finds that pot smokers weigh less than non-smokers.

By Sally Wadyka 4 hours ago

It’s a scene that’s been played out in movies (and college dorm rooms) over and over again. You get high, get some junk food, and proceed to stuff your face till you pass out. But while stoner food fests are legendary, there’s a twist to the tale that may leave healthy eaters and frustrated dieters scratching their heads.
Turns out that in spite of the late-night pizza binges and countless bags of Doritos they consume, the average marijuana user is actually less likely to be obese than the general, non-pot-smoking public.
A team of researchers from three different institutions collaborated to assess subjects who had participated in the 2005 to 2010 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. They asked over 4,600 men and women about their marijuana usage. Of the participants, 579 reported that they were current marijuana users and 1,975 admitted to inhaling in the past. All were tested for fasting insulin and glucose levels, insulin resistance, cholesterol levels and waist circumference.

Surprisingly, the researchers found that the current pot smokers had significantly smaller waist circumferences than those who had never touched the stuff. And even former users were likely to be more slender than their never-smoked counterparts. But beyond trimmer waistlines, the pot smokers shared some other healthy characteristics. As a group, they had higher levels of HDL cholesterol (the “good” kind), lower insulin levels and reduced insulin resistance (if your insulin resistance is high, it means you have trouble absorbing glucose from the bloodstream and are at higher risk for diabetes).

So now for the big question: How on earth can pot smoking -- which has been shown in previous studies to increase your caloric intake by over 600 extra calories per day—make you skinny? The researchers still aren’t sure beyond hypothesizing that marijuana helps improve insulin control, which helps regulate weight. Figure out the answer, and you’ll win a large pepperoni pizza and a bag of Doritos.

    time to raid the 'frig.

    Vegan Sloppy joes.

yeah i went there. and fucking enjoyed it
http://sunnigonevegan.wordpress.com/ (is my new blog if anyone cares)
    What you’ll need:
    1 1/2 cups tvp
    1 medium green bell pepper
    1 onion
    Soy Sauce
    Hot sauce
    Manwhich (yes vegan confirmed!)
    mustard
    garlic powder
    s & p
Cook your tvp to directions I used 1 1/2 cups boiling water to 1 1/2 cups tvp
While tvp is dehydrating dice your onion and bell pepper, and heat it up in a pan on the stove once the onions and bellpepper have softened add the tvp , manwich and a dashes of hot sauce , garlic powder, mustard, and soy sauce. I found the manwhich sauce to be too bland so really you can add anything you want or use my idea.
Let it heat through all the way
Toast buns, top with mixture, add daiya cheese shreds and eat!

Mmmm I think i'll make some tomorrow. I have everything but the kidney beans!!!! A friend of mine is vegan and a health nutritionist and he made some with eggplant one time. Definitely different from a normal burger but wasnt bad. I like the looks of your recipe though. I'm thinking maybe some corn added into the mix??

for cannabutter I use 1 cup of chopped popcorn and high grade trim per pound of clarified butter which is cooked on low in a crockpot for 4+ hours and then strained after allowing it to cool enough to handle without burning yourself....squeeze the remains to get all of the liquid and refrigerate cannabutter cookies [IMG]
    Butter cookies
    1 lb cannabutter
    2 cups all purpose flour
    1 cup confection sugar
    1 cup corn starch
1 teaspoon vanilla or almond (leaves a cherry taste)

allow butter to soften at room tempurature and cream-I use a fork, and slowly add the dry ingrediants, working them into the butter until it is smooth with no lumps and then add the flavoring.
spoon the mixture onto aluminum foil-I roll into 1" tubes and chill.
cut 1/4" to 1/3" slices, arrange on a cookie sheet, flatten with a floured fork and cook 18 to 20 minutes at 325. Allow cooling and they can be stored and kept in the refrigerator until ready for consumption.
Warning: They are very, very tasty and multiple consumption leads to a long, restful sleep. :peace: cof
