Goofing around again on my new 6-atring bass and did a video cover of the bass part to "Sultans of Swing" by Dire Straits.
Made my typical number of errors, & embellishments, but it was minimal.
The next post will be of the bong tokes I took at the begining of each attempt to record it all the way through without a horrible mistake.
Enjoy!

Thanks for the kind words. :-)

The cap is just an old medicine bottle cap that happened to fit around the rim of the bowl. But I had to remove the paper gasket before using it as a bowl capper.
I call it: The MBBC-5000 mk-II™ (formerly known as the "Medicine Bottle Bowl Capper 1.0™", and then there was the military-only version called the "Superheterodyne Phallangecally Applied Combustion Cessation Device #420™".
There have been many prototypes, too, ranging from aluminum foil, to coins of the realm, and the ill-marketed "Hydrogen Balloon Bowl Capper" that, unfortunately did NOT go over with the "bang" that we thought it would, if you catch my meaning. :-(
*cough*nuclearholocaust*cough*.
Those poor bastards in Philly never knew what hit them... :-(
In the name of "Research", they will not be forgotten...

Thanks, my fellow bassican!
It's an Ibanez GSR206, their entry level 6-string bass, but it's not a bad instrument for the price.
I run mine through a Boss GT-10B bass fx processor into a small Behringer mixer and into my computer (Windows Vista, using an M-audio "Delta Audiophile 2496" sound card).
I currently live in a tiny apartment, so I only use the headphones (Audio-technica M50s), but the wife & I are about 6 weeks from moving into a house, so I can finally go back to playing through my amp again!
To cut through the original mix I process the song in Ableton Suite 8.2.8 using an 8-band EQ to drop out most of the bass guitar frequencies. I record that by itself as a .WAV file, then use that to play along to and fill the bass part back in on a separate track.
Then record the two tracks back together and run it through a Dynamic Processor plug-in and a Mastering utility to boost the gain back up towards 0dB (all native Ableton tools).
Still working on dialing it in, but have made progress over the course a number of cover vids (some had HORRIBLE sound).
Anywho, thanks for spending the time to check out the vid!
Will be posting more & more vids after moving and will always post link here in the music thread.
Peace!
