Suggestions From The Wise

Hello Everyone,

I have been a member a rather long time always reading threads but staying quite and not really giving much input since i am yet to grow there isn't a whole lot of input i can do just sit back and learn but its about time.

But now i am planning my grow  I live in the UK and in a rather residential area at that. I wont be growing indoors i will be growing outdoors in my back garden i have rather tall fences and quite a few other tall plants which will help me keep it covert.

So i got a location now i need some seeds. which is where i would like some help and advice i am aiming to grow 4 plants.

My first thoughts where 1 main Sativa 1 main Indica 1 Hybrid and then a auto strain or 2 so that i can get a yield before September rolls around i know its still awhile before planting season but no harm in being prepared.

So i would like some help choosing the best strains for my situation. Im not out for a commercial grow its not all about the yield i want potent clean smoking bud like i use to enjoy before the commercial low quality weed started coming around.

I have done my own research :eyesmoke: i know what i like

I found a strain called Channel+ that won the spannabis cup in 2008 with a very high yield and 15-20% thc and high levels of CBD which sounds like a good strain to me.
(anyone grown this? or got comments about it?)

White widow also took my fancy as a strain i would like to grow.
(How pungent is the smell of these strains?)

If you want to cut to the chase:
What i want is some suggestions of strains i can grow outdoors that wont grow too tall or be too pungent that it can be smelt from far away as it is a residential area.

Also i would love some information and advice on auto's i saw a thread about the iranian auto which was meant to be extremely potent and have a nice yield i would just like some suggestions on auto's that would be recommended grow and just any advice you wise people have to offer :)

Thanks in advance for all those try to help me out here
Sorry for such a long post usually i like to keep things short

not me...i'm plenty happy to get ditch weed to survive currently.

i often hear the local Elders speak of growing only one strain to start off, as each are unique in their requirements/temperaments, if it helps any.

Hi,

What grows wonderfully out door's here in Spain will rarely work in the UK. We grow well past October here, that is not going to run in the UK, unless you force flower through the summer months. Bringing your plants inside or covered to give a 12/12 light/dark regime. Do you have a shed?

There are only a few lines that will do great that far North and there are even fewer that have been bred outdoors, thus having the resistance to molds. UK in Autumn can be the perfect environment for Mold. Canadian bred lines can work well there. But really, the best way to grow out door's in the UK is force flowering.

Auto-flowering plants could be good in a guerrilla grow. However, if your growing in the yard, I would strongly recommend looking at force flowering as it is much superior in quality, yields and all other areas.

There are some breeders out there, including myself working with Landrace/Heirloom lines that have been created and maintained outdoors and will give you the qualities you see. In addition to us, Breeders Choice, ACE, CBG, Reeferman and others all carry such lines.

Most Sativa dominants will not work. I would look for Heirloom Hash plant lines, Indica or Indica dominant hybrids from traditional Hashish making plants can work well there.

If you can force flower, the whole Cannabis spectrum becomes available to you.

I got a shed so i can force flower them, would be nice to just let them do there thing though but i guess if the climate doesn't permit it i gotta let it do what it wants. As soon as the weather allows me to grow outside. But i would like to do some guerilla grows but i don't want to be spending money on plants there a chance can be stolen or destroyed so if i start off with some auto's ill do the Rodelization technique to get some seeds that i can plant around seeing as they wont be costing me and ill still get some crop :)

So would i be looking to grow Dutch hope and those kind of strains with high mold resistance and can handle the cold to a degree?

stay away from the sativa's unless you have a long fall. We had one 11' and a few more that went around 8' with a 6 week veg in the ground. They could have gone at least another 4 weeks. We might try a green house to keep the cold and wet off them this year.

Yeah the weather in the uk is unpredictable i plan on growing in pots so if worse comes to worse they can go into the shed or even the garage to finish off there life cycle just in neither of these places will i be able to place lights. I still got a few months before its time so i got time to review my choices and make the best choices of what i am able to grow.

I would really like to hear from anyone growing in the uk that has grown outdoors. If i think the cold will come before my plants finish i will swap them to a 12/12 life cycle.

Anyone here experienced in growing auto's i mean i don't know much about them. Are they of a bad quality compared to normally grown strains? I realise they have low yield and are short plants but i would like to know more about them.

Well Dutch hope can work, but if you can force flower the whole Cannabis spectrum is at your disposal friend. I'm from the UK and used force flowering to bring in even heavy Sat's.

If you just want them to do their thing, there is a wide selection of Mold resistant lines. We purposely breed for this trait as a lot of our work is aimed at outdoor growers. There is many pure Heirloom Hash plants that will finish in time. Chitrali, Xkush, PurePurplePakistani, Coffee Kush, Mountain View and UltraKush from us alone, these will finish and they will not Mold. Heavy selections for Mold resistance in all these lines as they are made for outdoor pro grow's and dispensary grows where quality, yield and no loss to Mold are the keys. Although all Indica's, not all of these have heavy 'stones', Ultra, Chitrali, Xkush all carry quite 'up' high's rather than stones. Traits many describe as Sativa, but they can be found in Indica's too.

One of the problems in the UK not to be dismissed, is the effect of the rain on outdoor herb's, they get damaged, water really makes them cold even when it is not as it draws out retained heat. Storms and water damage trichromes. Which is why I mentioned the force flowering, because if you can this is the way to bring in the utmost quality in the UK.

Good luck! good to see more UK outdoors grows friend.

Peace, HHF

I see thanks HHF ill take a look into those strains :P

Dutch Passion seemed like a good favorite for uk outdoor growers with a nice high too.

But i will take your advice into account and work out what im actually gonna do once i have finalized my strain choices.

Can you send me a link to your website so i can have a look at your seeds?
