Strains good for depression, ipf, anxiety, pain, and fatigue

Hi all,

I'll start by saying: mods, if there is a better place for this thread to be in, do your thing and relocate it :-) I didn't know where to post it because the person in question has all the ailments mentioned above.

I'm talking about my mom. Some of you have answered another thread I started about her yesterday, and I thank you for the help.

I am looking at the different strains of marijuana, trying to educate myself better about the plant as a whole and the different strains available, as well as what strains work better for which ailments.

My mother has:
Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (on oxygen 24/7)
Diabetes
***Clinical Depression (*as a side note, when I was a child the docs put her on an antidepressant so powerful she slept all day, and I in my childlike innocence thought she was dead. She was literally knocked out. She said she never wants to go down that road again)
Anxiety
Fatigue
Chronic pain in legs, back, shoulders, and a messed up rotator cuff (can't lift arm very high at all)
Overall sadness from being so ill
Stomach/heartburn issues for which she takes pantaprazole.
Very high levels of stress.

My mom eats relatively well because she's had to make lifestyle changes from the diabetes. She has the diabetes in good control. I gotta get her to do some juicing now.

My question to this wonderful community is what strains, based from personal experience or from family, friends, loved ones, are useful for a woman in her position?

She posed this question to me today, and I didn't have a very good answer... Only that I knew there were strains out there that could help.

Also, what are some recommended uses? Meaning like... Should she have edibles or oil or some pill form or vape it...?

I've never smoked weed. I have people very close to me who do, and I see the way it has given them the opportunity to live their lives in more fulfilling ways even with some of the worst diseases imaginable. I see that in others and I want to give that happiness to my mom. I would be lying if I said I didn't cry at night almost every day... I cry myself to sleep because of how frustrating this whole situation is. I just want to help her as much as I can, and now that she sees marijuana as a viable option, I spend hours trying to gather as much info as possible about it.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions. I hope that other people in similar situations also see this post and maybe get some answers, too.

Hello there I have a sibling who was born with a severe debilitating disease she would have several seizures throughout the day and be in extreme pain do to what the disease has done to her physically I was in the same exact situation as you I did all the research possible to figure out the best possible strains and ways to administer canbabas to her ..... After everything I've tried strain wise I found that a sativa indica cross works the absolute best it not only stops her seizures in there tracks but it also relaxes her mind and relieves pain not to mention helping her just to rest over all I started her out on tinctures and after a while of being on tinctures she also now is able to take edibles and occasionally vaporizing The only thing is about these types of strains is if there grown correctly they can be quite potent ..so if your mom is new to this like my sister was start her out slow and just work your way up slowly on dose that way she's always comfortable and she doesn't get to much since she's new to taking cannabas. I wish you the absolute best and I hope this helps you in some way good luck to you...........I have been growing now for a long while for my sister and other people close to me in the same type situations I grow her primarily og kush Please just remember that if grown correctly this is a very potent strain good luck

I will also recommend to start small doses at a time, i have only been smoking so I dont know about the other methods but since i also have anxiety disorder would take 3 drags at max in the beginning. what has helped depression and fatigue for me was a sativa based hybrid. 2 varieties i enjoyed were orange crush and strawberry haze. it just kind of made even a dull tv interview engrossing. it also dulled pain in general, but for stronger pain relief maybe an OG/indica hybrid strain...i tried something called God OG and i feel that would have worked better for physical pain. With the anxiety, I would stay away from a pure sativa for the first time anyway. I tried an island hemp star which is a 3 cross sativa and provoked panic and paranoia terribly. ive also been recommended CBD mango haze which ill try soon in the more functional high category. sorry if i am all over the place here, but it has been experimentation in several diff strains for me............i would start with a hybrid to start, perhaps sativa dominant hybrid, then try indica dominant hybrid see which she prefers and go from there.

Anyways, I am smoking a strain I researched for depression and fatigue, I bought at kush mart. It does seem to work pretty well for both, mainly my severe depression. I would recommend it to your mother for depression. Durban poison will do the same but more effective, when I smoke it I feel giggly, and everything was happy and a little goofy, but a good functional goofy. The downside is, it is a pure 100% Sativa, it may poke at her anxiety, but its worth it. Kills depression and but only kicks fatigue in the shin... Hard haha.

Just a side note.. Could juicing MMJ or using it in a non-psychoactive way possibly help?

Also, many recent studies suggest that inflammation in the brain causes depression. For this reason I began taking 4000 mg of quality fish oil per day. It realllly helps. Also a good probiotic can help. High CBD strains could also help.
