Strains for anxiety

I had a seizure about six months ago & have been having terrible anxiety attacks. I don't wanna get on Xanax or Valium because I've been down that road unfortunately, & that's just not something I wanna go through again. Since the seizure certain strains make me wig out even worse, so I'm lookin for the one strain the mellows me out.

Anxiety is my primary issue. Stay away from strong sativa hybrids and racy sativas like Durbin Poisin. They can make things worse instead of better. Mild Sativa hybrids during the day with a nice indica dominant hybrid or strong indica for evening/night.

My current choice for daytime smoke is Delicious Seeds, Cotton Candy. A very nice euphoric high, soft body buzz and it allows me to be very clear headed and functional. Very pleasant smoke. Night time, I like Bomb Seeds, Cherry Bomb. I can start smoking it a couple of hours before I go to bed and get a nice comfy buzz going, then drift off to sleep. I wake up feeling rested and refreshed ready to take on the world. Cherry Bomb is likely to have a permanent spot in my garden just because I love the sleep I get when I smoke her.

Anxiety is a bitch and is hard to understand by those who have never experienced it. Best of luck and I hope this helps.

My favourite thing for anxiety is my Chemdawg edibles. Smoking for me makes it worse in almost all cases, but I keep trying new strains to sort this question out for myself. I'm currently growing Cotton Candy and Blueberry as a test.

i've been on a quest for anti-anxiety weed
it's not easy dialling in on this
my experience is that it's strong weed that causes problems
too much rush and anxiety kicks in
best plant so far for me was nirvana's PPP

Anything harvested a little on the early side will be more likely to increase anxiety, imo. Grow as large a variety as you can just to increase your odds of getting one that works well for you. My favorite daytime anti-anxiety would be Western Winds (Kali Mist) and I like LA Confidential for evening. Good luck!

I like a good, as bugeye states, properly harvested OG Kush and the like.

I find it's one of the most calming strains for me personally. Also female seeds Pure AK was good but the tolerance build up was fast. But it had a nice sativa side to it that didn't leave me glued to the couch like the OG can.

If you're growing for anti anxiety one of the most important things is properly harvesting, as Bugeye says too early will cause anxiety in a lot of strains.

I'm trying some Chem crosses they seem nice and calming, the Em-Dog I'm running now is a fairly high yielder. Im going to pop some Chem '91x OG kush next I think.

Maple Leaf Indica, SAD from sweet seeds, Rishi Kush from Mandala, kinda sativa. GDP is calm. A good Northern Lights like I got from Classic.

Take it easy on the dose, easy to go overboard and get into anxiety feelings from being overwhelmed by the high.

I think you should consider high CBD varieties as well. I find they give me a pretty clear head that leaves me functional and relaxed.
Any good suggestions OGEvil?

I wouldn't mind trying out some High cbd lines to see what the effects are for me. Might be going medical depending what my head doctor says next week, I refuse to take anymore pharma drugs for it, as they have landed me in the hospital for surgery once already.

I've been smoking for about 15 years, I enjoy the high aspect but sometimes it's too much to go out super stoned while having bad anxiety days. I think the high potency strains kind of counteracts the anti anxiety aspects when you smoke past a certain point. The biggest bit for me is smoke in moderation, wait for effects, then smoke more or not. Smoking too much can lead to me being self conscious and leaves me wondering if everyone around me knows how ridiculously high I am which leads to more anxiety. Of course strains have an effect on this too, there's quite a few strains out there, like a nice bubba/hindu kush, that leaves me in a state of "no fucks given" which is one of the nicest feelings to me personally. To 100% not have to worry about anxiety makes dealing with it a lot easier, half the battle to me at least is wondering when the next attack is going to come.

A proper dose is just as key as the strain IMO, it can go bad both ways.

I've been finding that Sativas & Sativa-doms are the answer for anxiety - I don't have anxiety so I'm basing this off of research and the words of others. While Indicas are great at relaxing the body and slowing things down; Sativas are more focused on easing tensions within the mind. Even though Sativas create euphoria and energy, they seem to be linked more towards thoughts. Some Strains I suggest: Bubblelicious/ Bubble Gum, Sour/Chem strains like Cheesedawg, Strawberry Cough, Haze strains. Peeace!

It's definitely about a balance in the hybrids, I grew an OG Grape Krypt from DNA and it wasn't pleasant at all without something to 100% focus on, like a video game or something where you are doing something to distract from the raceyness feeling. To just sit and read a book or something it was hell, super racey. Took one at 8 weeks and one at 11, so I had a full spectrum the strain is just very racey. I don't generally get those effects from OG, I think it was the grapefruit in the cross that did it, not 100% on that obviously. It showed 0 OG characteristics so maybe it didn't even have OG in it at all :)

I'd really like to try some proven cuts of sativa dom hyrbids, I feel dropping money and time on seeds can lead to bad results like I had with the DNA strain, for medication purposes that's not ideal obviously.

I'm probably going to grab another pack of Pure AK as it's honestly probably one of the best strains I've done for my issues, I'll run it along side some indicas to get a nice night time smoke so the tolerance build up doesn't ruin it. Maybe I'll grab some Strawberry Cough if I can find it, it's always been a strain I was interested in.

Best strain for anxiety I have tried is the clone only Headband. It does not put me down, feels like a very social clear headed high and still retains the indica undertones that knock out my anxiety.

I haven't grown any, although I have Shark Shock CBD from Dinafem/CBD Crew going atm. But I've tried Nordle, Cannatonic and Haze versions and both gave me a pretty clear head and I don't suffer from anxiety really at all, but they were calming either way. CBD is a rather potent anti psychotic and is a logical choice for anxiety in a lot of folks. YMMV as with any thing else with this plant.

Golden Goat, Burmese, God Bud, Hawaiian Indica are all very good on the brain and are anti anxiety strains. The hawaiian in the god bud samples I have tried had the anti anxiety effect from the hw indica. It's a hybrid strain containing hw I. At least the bcbd one was. Not sure about Jordens cut but it's supposedly the original.

From someone who has wrestled with serious anxiety issues, I can tell you from personal experience this is HORRIBLE advice. Strong sativas and strong sativa hybrids frequently make things worse, and in some cases much worse. I know several people that suffer from anxiety and we all stay away from strong sativa anything.

Please quote the source(s) for your research. I would be very interested...

Can't comment on the others, but BC Bud Depot, God Bud is great for anxiety. I grew this strain out several months ago and found it to be very soothing and calming. I really like it at night.

I can not recommend BC Bud Depot to anyone because they are pretty shady operators, but I too understand that the Jordan of the Islands, God Bud is the original and pretty dang good weed as well. Never grown it, but it is on the radar...

Any of the Hindu Kushes & (Master-Kush) work well for my anxiety. I find the old school Indica to be wonderfully potent, yet not overwhelming (not a total couch-locker) that leaves you just functional enough to enjoy being SO baked  Great calming, anti-anxiety effect. Here's our Lemon Kush last week, about 30 days to go -
