Strain Identification

Is there any way to identify a strain accurately by observation? I have some "unknown" types and was wondering if anyone here is good enough to determine the strain by photo. I can post pictures, but I'm not sure this is possible anyway.

Agree. Too many strains in the world, not enough difference between them, too many mutts, and no international sanctioning body monitoring breeders' claims about heritage.

probably not, but if you are growing from a 'mix pack' where you are limited to some number of strains, and can find grow logs of those strains, and those strains have some very distinctive traits, then maybe
but it will be at best an educated guess
