Storing Potent MMJ

I am a patient in the LA area. Recently, having been removed from my own personal place of living, I have become increasingly aware of storing my buds in a smellproof, airtight environment. Well, a few things I found out, now that I live in a very small room, is the smell of my Green Urkle, Super Sour D and Afgooeyx trainwreck is noticable upon walking in my room. Now, I had these three strains of herb in a mason jar, clean lid, etc. And the smell ABSOLUTELY permeated whatever sort of seal these jars offer, as I would periodically wrap a shirt around my jar, put it in a box, and close the box. The next morning I could easily smell through the jar, shirt, and box the indiviual scents of each of the herbs.
So, I went to talk to someone who worked at a local club. They suggested a "tightvac" container, which I went out and purchased. I have my herb in the tightvac, and the same problem. These buds just seem to permeate any jar or storage device I try. The seal on the tightvac is definitly airtight, but not smell proof- does that even make sense?
Anyway, its gotten to the point where I cant buy adequate supplies of medicine at once, because storage has become such a problem. Has anyone else ever had stinky ass bud that just wouldnt stop smelling no matter what the jar? Is this my bud drying out and losing potency? Could is possibly be small particles left around the seal i'm smelling? I really am at a loss for a solution.
Could anyone suggest an absolutely certain storage system? This is really getting to be a problem.

First is in Tupperware in the freezer.
second is in glass in the refrigerator a paper bag wrapped around it.
Both no smell.

the smell can't go through a glass canning jar

you might have some of the resin on the outside, wash it off

canning jars keep food fresh for a year or more if they leaked the food would spoil

I know the feeling fireog. I purchased just an 1/8 the other week, I've got about a gram of it left and it still stinks. It's in a spice (cumin) container, inside an air tight glass jar (with a good seal on the inner lid), which is inside a cabinet, in the en suite next to my bedroom (through a closed door) and it still smells strong!! I've never had such strong smelling bud, even when i've bought potent ounces.

Maybe invest in a vac sealer and double seal your stash? It would be a pain but it would work. They even have jars maybe you could vac seal a vac sealed jar. I dunno man get creative!

Word, I'm glad to hear someone else has the same problem. I've heard from a few people now that they have had similar problems with potent bud, I guess some people are just getting the real, real heady shit.

As for the people who still believe mason jars are the end all solution, step it up. I bought 12 brand new jars yesterday and tested each one, and within an hour of the bud being put in each new jar, you could smell it on the outside.

glass mason jar or glass container with a rubber stopper are both all i use and it smells fine. only reeks when i open the jar, then obviously the room smells for a long while after unless i open both windows and blow a fan for 5 min or so. the better the weed the longer it lingers and also the smells rub off on things making it harder to cover up.

Heat the jars up to a safe temp for the bud. When it is still very warm put your buds in then the lid on the mason jar. Close the lid very tight but not too tight or it will strip. As it cools the air molecules will shrink and the jar will seal.

I never have to heat them I dont see why you are having problems, when I come out of the mountains and open a jar they pop from the difference in air pressure. Mason jars are the best... Tupperware is plastic... don't touch it to your medicine. Refrigeration isn't needed unless the air temp is too warm (70s), freezing makes it brittle. Most important keep it out of light!
