stems not just garbage

So for the last 2 soil harvests i've done i tried something and so far so good. I replaced half my top mulch in my soil garden from red cedar wood chip mulch to the leftover stems from my bags. For the past year when i rollitup i throw seeds in one jar for future experiments. And another jar i fill with the stick and stems. Two harvest and no added benefits found and no disadvantages found.

any one tryed before?
