stem cutting and grafting

so i had just started some seedlings...however due to laziness and time i neglected them and the stems stretched......

they were bound for 4" netpots......all was going well and i was mainling them. They continued to stretch however and i ended up with a bush atop a 1.5ft lollipopped.stem.

my solution has been to cut out a large part of the stem and attempt to reattach the head back onto the stem......

its been 3 days and tops are limp but not drying out under a 400w mh, wind etc so they must be getting some moisture??....

my question is can this be done, and if so is it so tramatic to a plant yield will suffer??

i cannot upload as im on my phone and it wont allow.....imagine a net pot with a long 1.5ft stem going straight out from the middle.....attop this stem is the 8 branches she has....

in order to shorten the plants i cut a large section of the stem out, cutting it at 45deg angels....

so i was left.with the 4" of stem poking out from the net pot, to this i placed the top section containg the 8 branches back and tapped it up as you would a supercrop that went to far.....

i could not bury the stem it was 1.5foot from the net pot.
Yea, I was just re-reading the original post again. My bad. Damn indica during the daytime. So unusual for me,sativa only before 5pm. Anyway, wish I could help but never had a problem like that. One thing I can add is next time don't be so lazy it will always get you in the end.
Good luck my friend

my thinking at the time was that the two parts would quickly seal themselves back together....but i can find no info on if this is even possible.....

as i say the tops haven't dried out yet, and seem very alive all be it limp.....very limp......just after thoughts on the matter as i may be better if just cloning the tops!!

It can be done check out "drafting of a plant" but 2-3 weeks can be added to your grow time
yea in familiar with grafting.....but always one strain to another not the same plant back to itself..mmm.....if its adding 2weeks i think id rather clone the tops....safer

theres picks of my work on the mainling thread here n there.....i let them go to 6 nodes and get well and truly in veg before topping Imo its better to wait till the plants established unless enviroments poifect ...i also use the lower branches as clones, these can also me mainlined as they keep even nodes......imo it doesn't work so well on clones or when nodes have started alternating....you don't get the central hub effect no matter how level you make branchew

sounds like your plant is just gonna be tall... I would highly discourage you from chopping it in half and expecting it to recover fully. Just grow a lil shorter next time. You live and you learn, and you make your practices from experience. It is what makes a good grower a good grower! :)
