"Stealth" PC Growbox - 1st attempt

Came across the stealth box idea and it seemed like a fun project so I decided to try it out.

Setup :

Basic Mid-Tower ATX Case
2 - 26w - 2700K CFL's
1 - 23w - 6500K CFL
1 - 120mm intake fan
1 - 92mm exhaust fan (plan to add another soon as I finish my DIY carbon filter/light trap)
Case lined in windshield reflective foil.
Fans powered by ATX power supply.
Power strip for lights wired directly into ATX power supply so there's only one power cable coming out of the case.
Awaiting my timer to arrive. Lights on 24/0 till it does then switching to 12/12.
Drilled holes around the top of the pot to attempt LST when things get going.

Pretty basic setup. still have to take care of a couple light leaks and neaten up the wiring a bit, but I think for the most part it should work fine for now.

Seed germinated via paper towel method and planted about 18hrs ago. Hoping to see a sprout within the next 2-3 days.

Not expecting any big yield from this tbh, just doing it for the hell of it. Any feedback is appreciated.

subbed.

nice set up so far.

list of improvements:
- try to get your lights sideways (i believe 70% of lights from cfl come from the sides)
- use the more powerful/bigger fan as an exhaust

you can even have both of them as an exhaust and just have a passive intake.

----

also get a temp/humidity reader and find out what your average temp is.

what type of strain is the seed from?

----

are you planning on running 12/12 from seed when the timer arrives?

I'll try to re-position the lights sideways and get a reader to monitor temps. Thanks.

Seeds came from some product I purchased. St Vincent(Vincy) Landrace sativa.

Yea planning setting it at 12/12 soon as my timer arrives.

I'm a newb but from what I hear, you should do 18-6 to veg for a bit using mostly the 6500k light and when your half way to the final size you want, then go to 12-12 and change to mostly 2200-2700k lights to flower. Am I wrong?

And the idea about the fan is a must, if you want to be stealthy, a passive intake is the way to go. Use both fans as exhaust through you home made carbon filter

Yeah you can do 24/0 or 18/6, doesn't really matter. Some say 24/0 makes them grow faster and this makes sense, but some say they need "sleep" and 18/6 is better, tbh of you only have a short veg period go with 24/0 and get the most out of it, as far as the light spectrum goes, yes 27ook is better for flowering and 6400k is better for veg, but if you mix them its still fine. I did a whole grow all the way through with mixed spectrum, actually about to harvest tomorrow. 2700k spectrum will help with bud formation so if you can, try get as many 2700k in there for flowering.

You have a cool setup going there, I'm subbed. And its true what was said about putting the lights sideways, I saw a massive difference when I put my cfl's sideways.

Looks good. I've been away from RUI and growing for a while, but I'm a few days from getting back on the horse growing.
I'm hopeful to get my own thread going, but I'm subbing a few other PC grow attempts so that I have some fellow greenthumbs to discuss and develop with. The way RIU intended it to be.

My set-up is not much different then yours. Hopefully I'll get pics up soon before my seeds crack (1-2 days now)

Anyway, looking forward to seeing what you'll end up with.
