Stealth Loudspeaker grow CFL :)

After a long break from my first few grows I decided to come back to the game :)
the speaker was donated to me by a friend to put to good use

this is after I started cutting the panel that the speakers were mounted on

I didn't have the proper tools so I used a hand saw to cut the front panel (IT WASNT EASY!)

the "after" photo

I gotta say that while rebuilding this little guy I fell in love with velcro! It's awesome!

I made a plug on the front panel so that I could easily detach it

with the new and improved front panel

I also made two light traps to cover the fans (they are attached with velcro - love it!)

during flowering I'm planning to switch the top light trap with a small carbon filter Im making right now

and finally how it looks when It's closed

It Isn't big (about 28cm x18cm x 58cm on the inside) but it will do.
Im guessing there wont be space for more than one plant at a time, but who knows I'll see how this goes maybe I'll try two plants next time.

Let's get down to buisness, for this grow I have some feminized Blue Mystic seeds from nirvana, Im using soil in a smart pot (first time I'm trying this pot).
and as you can see in the photos I have no lights! Haha for some reason the shipment of my two 135W cfl's didnt arrive yet (It was supposed to be here a week ago so I guess it will be here any day now)
I was too eager and germinated one seed about 3-4 days ago thinking the lights will be here by now..
so for the meanwhile this little buddy enjoys the sunlight on the edge of my window :)
I just hope the transition to cfls wont cause too much stress :/

That's It for now, gonna update as soon as my lights are here

Wow! That looks awesome man! I love how clean your mylar/reflective surface is.

Good luck cooling down those CFL's though! I am running 5x23W (115W) in a 40cmx30cm cab and with just a PC fan I was having a hard time keeping temps below 85F. Having 2x135W (270W) not only seems like an over kill for that small space but I'm sure it will be hard to cool down. I'm sure you'll find something out. Subbed!

Looks awesome! I love seeing pure stealth in action :D

I've tried to use velcro before but light was leaking through it. Did you screw fan covers over the velcro?? Looks like that would work better.

Thanks man! and yea I'm a bit worried about the temps too, especially because it can get real hot during the summer around here. Currently I have two 45W bulbs that I'm using till my 135w lights will be here (yea, they still havent arrive :/ ) and the temps are nicely around 75F-78F. I guess two 135W can cause me a little trouble, but I just have to wait and see :)

Thanks :)
I was planning to do that at first but the velcro alone does such a good job I decided not too
There are no light leaks whatsoever, and It's easier to handle with - If I want to adjust something or just remove the light traps I dont need to screw them off each time

Very sick looking. Will be starting my first (stealth) grow this year as I am in the process of fulfilling the shopping list for it.. Will be watching this in the meantime! This is exactly what I am planning. Except I am leaning towards using a three tier filing cabinet. Although I favor the ease of entry for something like this. Any suggestions for stealth grow besides my filing cabinet, something a bit larger than a PC grow but not by much..

Very cool you inspired me to make one of these in the next week or so as a cloner box though so I can turn my tent to strictly flower subbed up.

Hey everybody It's time for a little update

So, the lights still haven't arrive, and for the meantime I'm using two 45w cfls
I allways hate the first week because it's when reality comes and kick you in the face and all your planing show their flaws
I noticed some flaws in my design but the biggest one is the distance of the plant from the lights as you can see:

when I designed the box I made the cfl's fixed in place thinking I could just use books or whatnot to make the plant closer to the light like so:

but when I did that I noticed It fucks up my temps, The boxes I used to give the plant some height blocked the intake fan and caused the temps to reach 85F-90F
I tried using freezed water bottles and it works kinda good but Im looking for a more permanent solution.
so I ordered some small fans on ebay hoping that would help, and Im also thinking of making the lights suspendable (not now but for the next grow).
here is a link for the fans (they seem real weak but I dont have any room for anything bigger):
http://www.ebay.com/itm/350946603645
and for now I'll just use freezed water bottles

And If you thought thats bad, then theres more :(
my plant was right on the intake fan and her stem got too much bent over - not broke off but there was damage (like when you supercrop)
she seems to be recovering now - she just had like two days where it looked like she wasn't growing at all (I guess all of her energy was focused on fixing the stem) but now you can see growth so all is good

Day 6:

Day 7:

She's a tough little girl

lights on:
temps are are usually around 76F-79F and the humidity is pretty low - around 40%-50%.
I dont really know how to get it higher, there's no room for a humidifier in there. I gotta think of something else..

lights off:
temps are 74F-75F, and the humidity is pretty high - around 65%-80%

I'm doing a 18/6 cycle
And still using two 45W cfls
I have no idea whats going on with my 135W cfl shipment, If it's not gonna get here next week I'm gonna have to get a refund and buy them from a local shop (which will be pretty expensive )
