An E-cig saved me when I had to spend a week with my Aunt when my father was dying. They are not anything like my custom vape. The hits I can get now rival a bong hit!

The biggest problem with cigarettes is carbon monoxide. It bonds permanently to blood cells and blocks oxygen intake. Try a proper vape. You will wonder why you have been torturing yourself. Like I said - nicotine is good for you. Ever heard of niacin?

Cheers,
Mo

e-cig is not a way to quit cigarettes, it's just another way to consume nicotine.
I'm going to have to disagree with you there. I know quite a few people who used them as a stepping stone to quit cigarettes and eventually nicotine all together.

I want myself a nice sub-ohm mechmod. Just to cloud chase since I've put nicotine behind me.

Nicotine is actually good for you and PEG and other vegetable based solvents are going to kill you much more slowly than arsenic and lead! Please try it. I have converted the biggest smoker I know and he has not smoked cigarettes in over a year! Make sure you get a good system. Wickless atomizers are the best and variable voltage batteries allow you to customize the amount of vapor it produces.

It will absolutely change your life for the better! It has already started a revolution here in the U.S. Bigger than cannabis!
Never heard of a wick less ati......hows the juice being drawn then?

You really trust these homemade nic juices that are done in labs without general guidelines and inspections?

I kinda like the vapor idea, just not sold on it being that safe until only pharmaceutical grade equipment/ingredients are used by actual pharmacists........just saying ;-)

Oops on the thread high Jack!

I didn't want to freak him out with the part about weaning off of nicotine completely. They have different strength juices and my wife is down to 3 mg (she mixes her 6 mg with zero). My friend that was smoking two packs a day and chewing the gum is also weaning off of the nicotine. His wife orders the juice from a store down here and has been reducing the level without him knowing. :)

It works - you will quit smoking cigarettes!

Imo, the only good way to quit nicotine is cold turkey. I've quit 3 times at different times in my life, and cold turkey is the only way that's seemed to work for me.

The third time I got re-addicted was to e-cigs themself. This is why i warn it's not meant for quitting. It is designed to consume nicotine and nicotine is highly addictive..

When I weaned down on juice strength, I found myself constantly puffing my e-cig desperately trying to get a fix, which killed atomizers fast, and burned juice.

It's that low nicotine juice that causes people to go back to regular cigarettes. "e-cigs just don't do the same thing for me"

I did it the same way, cold turkey. Using some pretty drastic measures though. However cold turkey statistically doesn't work for most people. Everyone is a bit different and how one 'feels' about quitting is actually more important than the method(s) employed.

I used chantix...modified the schedule though. Was supposed to use it for an extended time..I did about half.

Just long enough to know I wasn't physically addicted. First week smoke while on chantix....by then you'll not want to smoke...amazing....then cold turkey for the next two weeks on chantix.

By week 4 off of chantix and cigs. It really does work well...but it's strong medicine with scary side effects so I just used the minimum. It's ability to let you decide if you want a cig is awesome..takes away the crazy craving. Craving is still there but controllable..

Anyways...my take on cigs and chantix...

I was addicted to cigarettes. Every time a person lit up on TV I wanted to smoke. Not any more! I vape once in a while now. It is so much better to be able to not have the craving :)

Still trying to find some time to work on the case of the new light ...

Well ...The "stealth dark grey-black" idea of a color is dead !

I was inspired by the ...silence....of it ...
P9301549.JPG

I can show you ,how the front " human -interface " panel will look alike ...
Just a rough idea ...

P9301538.JPG

It needs further work ..
P9301540.JPG
That 3mm thick aluminium disk ,it will have -circularly - punctured on it : " 350 -500-700-1000-1500-2100 ",
indicating the driving current of the two CXAs ..

The uncomplete full aluminium "cooling core " ( inner base plate -heatsink -2x rigid bars )
P9301545.JPG

P9301547.JPG

For powering the fan ,I 'voted' for MeanWell PS-05-12 .. Output 450mA ... (~5 Watt )
Fan is drawing 80 mA ....
The rest 370mA ,maybe can power a small fan for circulating the air in the growing area or for powering
a microcontroller .....So ..
Rear panel of the case ....
Along with the AC power socket ...A pair of 12 V output terminals ....

The outer bottom panel of the case has to have a opening for the heatsink to 'protrude' ,through it ..
There are some vent grills ,that the opening crosses .
So,they have to be filled with epoxy ...
Some reinforcements ,are installed at the inner side,
made of thin aluminium sheet .(Fiskars orange ,cuts things so easy ~!!! )
P9301552.JPG

P9301553.JPG

Amongst other parts, the 'chocolate' painted maint vent, and the protective stands of the case (protective to/for CXAs ) .

P9301551.JPG

Oh ,it 's going to look so ...retro ....
Like those led grow lights they had ,back in the 50's ! ........
P9301555.JPG
Peach n' Chocolate ...
Cool and silent as two balls of Peach n' Chocolate ice-cream..

Oh yeah ...

Cheers .

a question, you plan to use 2 cob in your project? 80 / 100w each? or more at less power?
Yeap, two Cree CXA3070 ABs' .Drivable from 350 mA ,up to 2100...
From ~23,5 Watts (2x CXAs only ,Tc=35 C ) up to ~ 165 Watts (Tc=55 C ) ..
~1 Watt is the Noctua 140mm fan ..
And the rest would be the losses from the PSUs ( 2x CC /CV MeanWell HLP-80H-42 ,1 x CV MeanWell PS-005-12 )

This 'tiny' baby ,it will have weird looks ,
amongst quality parts and other tiny 'goodies'...
....but it won't have any noise ..

I guess ,making High-End Solid State Grow Lights ,is the best thing I know to do ,by far ...
Other than that ,I'm nobody *...
Totally ...

Anyway ..
C'est la vie ...

*....Nobody is Perfect ..:P

Cheers .

-The closer the led drivers to their max Io ,the more their efficiency ...
-The closer the led Arrays to their If max ,the less the efficiency ...

-Having only two led arrays / cobs / fried eggs -not the 'well done',ones - and driving them in a such large current range ,
The overall efficiency of the light ,remains relatively 'stable' ...

-To really have a high efficiency fixture operating at 350,500 ,700 0r 800 mA with the CXAs ,one has to use a driver with Io max 350,500,700 or 800 respectively ....

-Cheap drivers lose their efficiency rapidly ,within couple of months .
Due to rapid thermal degradation of the cheap parts used ,to make those drivers .

....Oh ,my..
Sorry ...
I was just thinking ...loud ...

...Cheers !

The AC power output piece caught my eye.

Wouldn't all the +/- wires eventually run to this for power, hence simplification?
Incoming / outcoming EMI filter also ...

AC does not have + and - ..
It goes like ~ from + to - ....

The socket will provide AC electricity to the three PSUs ,if that is what you were meaning ..
Yes .

Cheers.
