Lol still primitive? What do you think people will think about us 2000 years from now. When WE are THEIR ancestors? Take a step outside the box. Take a step outside your beliefs and maybe you'll see what I'm talking about.

You and I, my friend, are the primitive ones.
Oh, I believe they will think the same of us. They will see what we do not. Man is still quite primitive and prone to superstition.

Hopefully that will al be a thing of the past....perhaps this will be recognized as the beginning of the end for superstitious religions ... that would be just fine with me.

I believe the more we learn, the less we know. So perhaps our ancestors knew more than we do. I'm not downplaying the thirst for knowledge, but I think it is overrated. And maybe 2000 years from now, athesism will be superstitious.

The thing about this conversation is that not one of us knows the answer. Everybody can have their beliefs, but nobody knows. It is a fun debate though.

What I do know is that aliens exist. The universe is far too vast for humans to be the only intelligent life forms. I am sure there are life forms with intelligence far beyond our understanding.

What do you guys think?

I'm sure there's life but intelligent life? IDK. Think of all of the shit that had to occur just for hominids to come into being. Many accidents along the way continued to lead to mass extinctions allowing new life to emerge. Large brain size and ability to think abstractly isn't necessarily going to happen on many planets IMO. If the dinosaurs weren't eliminated, and they reigned for over 150my, I think we still would be little rodents burrowing in tunnels.

Ever heard of the Drake equation?

Yes but for most steps, there are many assumptions that have to be made that may be very inaccurate. For example, the number of planets that can support advanced life might be much smaller than first thought. We have the fortunate circumstances of a magnetosphere that repels most solar radiation as well as a satellite that was instrumental in allowing life to develop. Add to that what I mentioned previously about it possibly being rare that large brains and self-awareness does not appear to be as common of an adaptation as other methods of survival that we have seen.

Have you heard of the Rare Earth Hypothesis?

The biggest obstacle to interacting with other sentient beings is TIME. The odds that we are in the right place at the right TIME to be visited is ridiculously small.

We are alone..... and that is another thing which drives religion/myth.

But so far.... we are playing solitaire.

Your right time's against us. There's no way man could ever venture out in search of life much farther than mars. It would take hundreds of years. It's meant that way. We're bound by mortality. Maybe this life we're living is like preschool. Just to get us ready for what's coming after death. I dont know, just an intresting thought. And crack jacks maybe you are just lonely my friend.

Holy fuck. You call others ignorant right after you yourself demonstrate your profound ignorance.
Asking for a half-human half-ape is like asking for a half-dog, half-chihuahua, or the point halfway between California and San Francisco. We ARE apes. The creationist Carl Linnaeus classified us as primates years before Darwin. Learn some fucking science and not the cartoonish explanations from Kent Hovind.

We did not evolve you need to wake up from your fairytale world and edjucate yourself

How do you think the universe came about? AFAIK, it is only the religious that think that the universe came from nothing, as in the Christian religion it was merely spoken int existence.

It seems obvious by calling scientists morons that you are just a fucking troll and we don't have to deal with your bullshit here.

hmmm what came first... the universe, or the bible?

using the bible to propagate the creationist rationale, would be the equivalent of using phlogiston theory to explain thermodynamics.....

it just doesnt add up.

The universe did not "just magically appear". That's not what the Big Bang theory states. When you say stuff like that, it illustrates to me that you don't understand the theory, would be a good reason why you wouldn't believe it. If I didn't know anything about the theory, I probably wouldn't believe it either. You have to go read actual factual information about something before you form any kind of opinion on it. Don't believe anything anyone tells you, go research it all yourself so you're content with yourself about actually doing the research and not just having to base your opinion off of believing someone, trusting someone who could be lying to you. This includes me, don't believe anything I say, go research it and see if what I'm saying is right before you believe it.

wait a min if the OP says god must exist because if the univese is truly infinate then somewhere someohow there has to be a god like murphys law says right

but that also means that there must be a devil and a huge tree that is god too

or a worm that rules also

if it is truly infinate like he is saying then its not that "anything is possible"

its that fact that "everything is possible"

therefore in a universe with infinate possiblities you will get every single outcome, eventually

means good gods bad gods worm god, turd god, devils eveything

im not even high right now either:shock:
