Starting up- Seeds or clones?

Miss Lemon Tree is growing and drinking pretty well. I've just been giving her ph'd water, but she had been on ~600 ppm nutes before so she is still Green and fresh. She seems to like the 24/0 LED in the hood, so all is well.

I plan on removing her form the coco next week and putting her in an Aeroponic system with GH nutes around 600 ppm.

It sounds good. Does your lemon actually smell like lemon?

BTW, 24/0 isn't less good than 18/6 but it's a waste of power. Above 18/6 the plants "take a nap" at some point during the day. It doesn't grow any quicker.

The only time 24/0 is useful is when you want to regenerate what's left of your plant at the end of the flowering cycle.

They're going to grow much faster once in the Aeroponic system.

Cheers fro Ireland,

She doesn't smell like lemon, but she's got a 'different" smell. I'll be able to tell more as she gets over 10" tall.

Well I don't have my electrical distribution installed yet, but I'm running Miss Lemon Tree under a 50 Watt LED panel and she's only taking water every other day so she's good for a few more days. I got my fanand filter installed and just need ot run the duct. I'm running the fan as a scrubber now to see how it will filter the smell.

I went down to see my sister at my necie's yesterday, and my nephew gave me ~24 photo seeds he bred, to sprout and sex. If they are female I'll grow them out for a while and take them back to him, as he grows outside and wants to get his plants in the ground about May 20. If I get enough Autos to sprout I'll give him a couple to see how they grow outside?

Cool! Yes the smell will become more distinct as the plant grows.
You seem to be doing pretty good.(:

BTW autos need a large container almost right from the start because they will grow for a very short amount of time before they start flowering.

I don't know where you are but May 20 is probably perfect to transplant outside.

Cheers from Ireland,

I'm using Aeroponics and will have a ~14 liter root space to fill, for my Autos.

May 20 here in Nor Cal is generally sunny and warm (~65-80 F). Very unlike Dublin with it's painted doors and drizzle.

I've just been giving Miss Lemon Tree pH'ed water so far but she's loosing her green color so I am mixing up some nutes for her. I am just learning bout mixing nutes and how much is enough. SHe's not due for water until later so I have time to see how the mixture changes after each nute boost, and how the pH changes when adding nutes. I'm using GH Florigrow and bloom to get it to ~600 ppm and 5.8 pH.

Lol. I guess there's a slight difference in terms of weather between Nor Cal and Ireland.

In an Aeronautic system, your autos will really take off, if you do it right, you can yield a lot. Exactly, at this stage, work your way up gradually and see how the plants respond.

Cheers,

Strain is called "Lemon Tree". It's a photoperiod hybrid - 50/50, Indica/Sativa, Lemon Skunk x Sour Diesel. This particular pheno takes on a more Indica structure and growth. You had to go 15 weeks because you grew haze. This strain typically finishes in 8 week. If you've ever grown Bubba Kush, these grow almost like it. If you train and top, they get extra compact and bushy. Very branchy and tight internodes. I like to top and train to get a wide "self-scrog" plant with an even canopy. Of course this is what you should expect from Lemon Tree (at least this pheno) but everbody's grow style and environment is different, therefore, the outcome may differ. The length of veg time and the size of your pot will determine the size of the plant. The good thing is, in flower, Lemon Tree don't stretch too much during flower so bud stacks tightly.
here is Miss Lemon Tree when I got her, 4-2-18.

I kept her in the cup for about two weeks until got my stuff together. I lst'ed her to push her top over and give the lower growth some light. Put her in the areo tub and fed her ~600 ppm GH Floro nutes

I had expected her to grow up more but she just got bushier. She's starting to throw hairs and I'm switching her to 12/12 today.
I got my auto fem seeds ( Northern Lights and Tangerine Dream) and tried to germinate two. Only the NL sprouted and then I broke it trying to put it in a rapid rooter!
Tried again and only the TD sprouted! I did get it into a rapid rooter though and it seems to be doing well.

My nephew gave me a bunch of his outdoor seed and 19 of the 20 sprouted and went into rapid rooters. I scrapped a few and then picked three for the second aero tub.

I switched out Miss Lemon Tree's water today and gave her about 600 ppm of nutes 5.9 ph. I'll check on her nutes and ph this afternoon and add nutes up to ~900 with a stiff shot of Micro.

My set up is working well. Temps are in the 70's and humidity is 30ish, which isn't bad for Sacto in the spring. I need another light as the 225 watt LED can't cover all three tubs. I'll buy a Quantum board next month as I'm broke from outfitting my grow room already. I figure Miss Lemon Tree will finish in about 6-8 weeks and the Tangerine Dream should catch up with her. Then the outdoor seedlings should be just about ready to rocket.

Checked in on the girls today and found that my sprayers are all plugged up! It came from the coco coir and compost that I used in the seedling stage. I only had four new sprayers on hand so I am replacing them in stages as I clean out four and replace them. It's hard to replace them when the pump is running. Even though the sprayers weren't spraying, the photo seedlings still were bright and cheerful. Maybe the humidity in the root chamber was enough to water them?

Sorry I've been extremely busy and haven't had time to reply to your messages. Lemon Tree as it is (untopped) is a pretty short and compact plant. Topping it will only make it more compact (and bushy). As buds form and begin to mature, you'll start to smell the lemon (and lemonade).

The weird looking single bladed leaves tells me it revegged. Did you flower it then threw it back into veg, or have a light leak somewhere in your grow room?

I had a light leak and switched it back to 18/6. She's happy now, growing quickly but still putting out pistils. If she's going to flower, I'll just let her run with it. I have a Tangerine Dream Auto in the same Aero tub and they are fighting for space.

I saw that Zen Gardens had Lemon Tree clones for $15 and thought about getting two, as I like the way she is growing. I won't though as I have three crosses my nephew did vegging well and they are photo's so I'll run those out before I get any crazier. She does smell like Lemon now a little, I noticed today.

Good deal. Didn't know Zen Garden started carrying Lemon Tree. Before I acquired my cut, I've asked them for the longest if they had any but they've never heard of the strain.

If I took more cuts, I'd give you 2 more but not cloning at the moment. This cut will be a frost factory and stinker for sure.

This morning I went in to check on her and wow she is really growing now! Still putting out pistils and looking good. I don't understand why she is flowering at 18/6, but I'll run with it. My LST'ing made her about 10" tall and about 17" wide/around. I'm going to make a ~23'X23" scrog screen and train her in to that. I have ~17 good tops now and she's really starting to stretch. I also noticed she's stinking a bit more than before, good thing I have my filter up and running or she'd stink up the house.

Yeah I'm not sure why it went into flower @ 18/6 either. Myself and everyone I gave these cuts to never had that issue. But glad to hear that it bounced back. The mothers for that cut are the same, they are wider and bushy than they are, tall.

69: Yeah, she looks like those were her mom. I tried a pix but no joy?

I still don't understand why this Lemon Tree clone is showing pistils under 18/6?? Maybe because I stressed her by keeping her root bound for too long in the cup? Idon't see any pistils on you moms, but it's a bit fuzzy blown out. Do they have any white pistils?

My Tangerine Dream Auto is starting to stretch now and is over growing Miss Lemon Tree. I thought I could grow both in one tub but it looks like I'll have to split them up.
My other tub has three of my nephews seedlings ( Ha Ha, ~10" tall) in it and I think they are fem's. I was going to put my new light over them and scrog the heck out of them, but I'd rather let my TD grow as much as possible to see what these TD's do. I paid $10 for that seed and I want to see if it is worth the cost.

I have a perfect spot in the yard for those seedlings but not much cover for them and I fear they'd be ripped off. I guess I'll just kill them.

Well I just had to move the Tangerine Dream from the tub with Miss Lemon Tree in it. The TD was getting to be 18" tall and Miss LT is only about 10" due to my LST of her. She has17-18 Top Buds formed and looks like she will have a lot of lower buds too. TD is about half complete and ready to start blooming. I'm going to concentrate on these two plants for now.

The Three seedlings from my nephews Pollen Chucking were 14-18" tall today but I yanked them and put TD in their tub. I didn't know their sex and didn't want to waste time if one or more were male.

I had 11 seedlings left over from my seedling run and have put them in 12/12 under a 50 watt light in 16 oz Party cups. I had four males and 7 females in the group. Killed the males and will experiment with the "7 Sisters" to see if I can get 50 grams out of them in my cloning tub. It's like having little bonsai cannabis garden in my tub. They look like little 6" Christmas trees.:weed:
I'm having Microsoft problems with my computer so no Pix unfortunately. I need to flush my hard drive!

One of the nice things about the new Cali laws is most of the sites I've been researching have been Med sources and are "Real Companies" not "garage growers" Some of the collectives have been reported as "buggy' but not all.
The last time I grew I had spider mites had a heck of a time getting rid of them. I got the cuttings from a nephew who is growing outdoors.

One of the clone Co's will deliver to your door too! How cool is that?
Hi GoatSoup, which one of the clone companies does deliveries, and are they in Northern California or Southern California?

I don't remember exactly, they had a place in Roseville, but they HQ'd out of So Cal, and they had a web site I found by Goggling "MM Clones in Sacramento". I'm having trouble with my computer and can't look it up, but a quick Goggle will get you the dope.

Yes the mothers have white pistils all over. When a plant matures, the nodes will start to alternate and pistils will start to emerge. So pistils means just that, that they are mature. Now if you see pre-flower (small clusters of white pistils), that's a whole different story. It means your plant is flowering.

Well I flipped to 12/12 a couple of days ago and the Tangerine Dream is beginning to flower now. Lemon Tree is not flowering, yet. I put a 2x2 scrog net over the TD and have her spread out pretty well.

I'm not sure the Lemon Tree needs a net as she's pretty well spread out from the LST. I'm running a mix of GH Flora Grow and Bloom but I may switch to pure bloom at the next rez change. I was reading that too much nitrogen is not good in Flower?

LT don't stretch much in flowering so no scrog is needed. A little nitrogen here and there to keep the plant green throughout flowering doesn't hurt. Just as long as you don't make it part of the regular bloom feeding schedule. It's not necessarily a bad thing to feed nitrogen during flower. Growers just don't do it because plants don't usually take up nitrogen while in flowering mode like they would in veg. Many do supplement with N from time to time during flower to keep plants from going nitrogen deficient. Also, some use N in flower to help assist in keeping plants a little more squat. If you use the "Lucas Formula", it can be used throughout the entire cycle.
