Starting from seed in DWC?

Hello everyone! I am going to be starting my first DWC setup, but I had a few questions about starting from seed. Would I just want to put the seed in 5.5 pH soaked rockwool cube and set it in the hydroton? Would the seed sprout down into the hydroton if the water level is an inch or so above the bottom of the net pots? Do I need to put nutrient solution in right away or should I start with just plain pH water?

If I start from clone and grab a rooted clone from my aerocloner, should I just put it in rockwool and set that in the hydroton filled net pots or should I just put it strait in the hydroton with no cube?

Thanks!

YOu can start from seed in a rockwool cube, I dont personally do it but others do and have success just hand feed it until the roots poke through the rock wool. I dont clone but have seen others use clones without the rockwool and into DWC.

you can start seeds in perlite.. then you could easily transplant ounce the young seedling is established or continue using perlite. in that case 2" netpots would do the task just right I think.

Also a drip irrigation system for this method (starting seeds in perlite) is best suited

I germ the seeds or cut the clones then throw them into peat pellets.
rockwool would work just the same. just root them in the rockwool then throw them in your system.
keep the water level below the pots and hand water until roots drop into res. :D

Thanks for all the help. I have some jiffy pellets and some herbs and vegetables that I am also going to be planting. Does anyone know if I should put more than one seed in each jiffy pellet? Does it vary by herb? If I put more than one seed in a pellet should I spread them out or just drop 2-3 in the same hole?

Are you sure that is not just for marijuana? Does it vary by species? Believe me I am not saying you are wrong as I am very new to this, but I saw a youtube video after this where a guy was planting herbs and he put 2-3 per pellet.

You can try it but if your seeds are valuable I wouldn't do it. Had you bred many to play around with then sure
