startin first dwc grow got a couple questions

k so first question is im goin from seed is there a method to getting the seed into the hydroton and good or will the root find the water and be good. im worries that if i put the seed in the hydroton it may not get enough water?

also was wondering only using 1 airstone per bucket but going to be using a pretty powerful pump would a couple inches of hydroton on the bottom of my bucket be a good idea for diffusing the bubbles some or should i not even worry bout it?

any and all input to help bring me into the world of dwc would be much appreciated

Once My seeds sprout i put them in rockwool. The rockwool should be very moist but not fully saturated. Place a layer of hydroton in a net pot, place the rockwool in there and then fill with hydroton.

One airstone is enough but remember a t joint is only a buck and a small bubbler at walmart is 4 bux, so i always try to get a couple in there. No need for the Hydroton for diffusion.

As your roots get into the water, let your res depth get lower. I keep a few inches between the pots and water.

i just started my seeds directly into a 60% pearlite 40%charcoal medium, and the germinated sprouted and rooted just fine...tried planting directly into the medium after i read an article dealing with how transplanting (germinated seeds) may induce unnecessary shock.

I second what riko says. One other tip is I give my lil seedlings a shot glass of water dumped on top about every other day untill roots hit the water.

k so i dont have my EC,PH tester yet a lil pricy its on my soon to be filled wishlist was wondering is there any tips/tricks to help stabalize the ph of my water? im have a drop in the container to test ph system and gonna get some strips as well but not nearly as acurate and would suck having to do that 3 or 4 times a day

Dont waste your time with the test strips, go by a quality meter. It will last forever. I think i spent 60 on my ph meter and 30 on my tds.
