Started growing late july, how long/

Hello. Firs titme growing and completely lost here. Started growing in late July and all is going pretty well. a nibbled leaf or two but all is pretty good. However the plant is is about a foot tall and I cant tell if I'm doing it right or not?

any suggestions?

Indoor? Outdoor? Location (north,central, deepsouth)?
