Speaker Space

First thing;
This is my first post here so i figured i would start a thread about my second grow (first was an outdoor and the crop was stolen). Here goes-

Currently in my bedroom i have a medium sized entertainment system, i had been looking for places to grow that my landlord (who likes to check on the "welfare of the property") will never be able to find. Back to the E.S. i finally settled on the large woofer to grow my babies in until spring time, after that they will be going outside. As this is my first indoor grow past "let's germinate a seed and see what happens" i figured i would learn if i should even attempt to grow indoors then move outdoors.

questions aside, my current setup is a 16" tall x 6" x 18" i have gone ahead and spray painted the interior of the woofer silver and run additional electrical alongside the speaker wire. i have two CFLs and am going to be using an odd technique so i don't have to pop open the woofer every day to water. 710 mL soda bottles with the tops cut off and inverted, the soil goes in the inverted cone, and a cotton rag is placed through the bottle's opening and into a water resevoir created by the bottom half of the bottle. in my thinking it should keep the soil moist when i go away (a few days at a time usually). i am thinking of only 3 plants in this space with 2 cfls.

i am in the process of building a grow box to pass off as a head board, (amazing what a maple veneer can do) so i can sex them and clone before putting them outside.

anyways, comments, ideas?

First off landlords are a bitch, you might want to wait until your in a better situation.

Second feeding like that seems extremely unpractical, There would be absolutely no way of regulating how much water your plants are getting.

The goal is Not to just keep the soil moist. Roots need air as much as water, and they grow in search of water, thats why normally (unless its hydro which is a whole other issue) you top feed and let the top soil dry out before feeding again, as the water runs through it also pulls new air into the soil, as as the soil drys out the roots grow searching for new moisture.

I would suggest a small fish tank pump and a cheap timer, make a drip system.

Also considering the fact that to properly stealth a grow with landlords coming by is going to get quite pricey, even for 1 or 2 plants, have you considered saving your money and buying a big bag

no i have not, i have experimented and have been succesfully growing a "Hans and chickens" as well as a dwarf bamboo species using the same method, it keeps it damp at the bas where the rag is and prgressively drier as it gets further from the cloth, i'm not very rushed and it's more of a hobby then anything, botany has challenges and this plant happens to have rewards.
